Tomorrow is my Auditing exam, and looking over my notes is making me worried because I don’t remember the most basic stuff. I’ve done a numerous amount of MCQ’s, and have gotten a lot of them correct, but the notes are killing me! What should I do to calm my nerves and pass tomorrow?

In order to pass, you must calm your nerves. Sorry but it's an unfortunate reality. The exams, thought I can't specifically speak on AUD since I haven't taken it yet, are difficult because of the breadth of material. In order to do well, you must have a clear mind and be able to read the questions carefully and think clearly. Some questions will be awkwardly worded or ask things in a way that is unfamiliar, and in order to get things correct you have to think clearly and be able to eliminate answer choices to improve your chances. I am just about to begin studying AUD, but assume it will be similar to the others.

At this point, it's your first exam, so I completely understand the nerves. I was a wreck before I took BEC. But once you get into the testing center, you have to put your game face on and go for it 100%. No room for panicking and worrying and crying. Tomorrow's the day to do your best. Either way, if you pass then celebrate. If you don't, then you will come out having been through the experience and seeing how not so terrible it really is. I still get nervous on my exams, but you have to remember your prep and go for the gold!

Since it's the day before, I would suggest re-reading the notes and reviewing all the basic topics. Make sure you understand all the basic and important ideas, so that when you get to a difficult or confusing question, you have something to think back on. Hope this helps. Good luck!

    BEC 86 (08/30/11)
    FAR 84 (10/13/11)
    REG 88 (11/08/11)
    AUD 86 (11/29/11)

Take a deep breath. Watch a movie or a few episodes of your favorite show.

I know personally I can't cram anything more in. What I know is what I know. I'm taking AUD on Saturday and reviewed pretty intensely over the past few weeks. I've been looking over a small amount of questions and freshening up on some topics, but I feel like cramming stuff in would cause me undue stress and make my performance worse.

Also, I personally do cram. It works for me. But if that confuses you or stresses you, I would avoid that. I have regularly studied hard the few days before each exam, but the night before I stop at a reasonable time to make sure I have an hour or two to watch some tv or a movie to unwind, as well as have an easygoing workout and then get at least 8 hours of sleep. Memorization will get you only so far, but if your brain isn't fully functional, then those memories aren't too useful.

    BEC 86 (08/30/11)
    FAR 84 (10/13/11)
    REG 88 (11/08/11)
    AUD 86 (11/29/11)

I guess you can't concentrate, because you're too nervous and that's why you feel like you don't remember anything.

Just go out for a walk and relax. You'll remember tomorrow.

@Zaiitz3 – I feel your pain – I have an exam tomorrow too and am also freaking out.

I agree with what everyone else has posted- you need to relax & unwind tonight, get a great night's sleep & wake up tomorrow refreshed & ready to tackle AUD. For my other exams, I review my notes once the night before and then flip through all the pages in the Becker book that I put sticky notes on as a final review in the morning. I usually get to the test center early and review in my car for a bit longer.

Take a deep breath, pour a glass of wine & put on the TV or do something else to relax. You've been studying & preparing for tomorrow long enough, you know the material and will totally master AUD tomorrow. Now if only I could follow my own advice! 😉

    Best of luck!

    AUD - 89
    REG - 79
    FAR - 82
    BEC - 84

I'd pop a Xanax before the exam, works wonders!

(Totally kidding about this, by the way)

    BEC: 87 (7/13/11)
    FAR: 86 (8/31/11)
    AUD: 99 (10/6/11)
    REG: 88 (11/30/11)
    Ethics: 100
    (Illinois)

Used Becker for all four parts. Supplemented it with Wiley Test Bank for FAR and REG (HIGHLY recommended) and NINJA notes.

If you're too stressed to completely stop reviewing for the night, it might help to just go over and do MCQs on the topics you are really comfortable with. If I'm too anxious the night before an exam to just sit and relax (but also to anxious to actually be productive), I will do MCQs over the topics that I enjoy (ha) or feel like I have mastered to boost my confidence! Good Luck tomorrow!!!
