So just like so many others – yesterday I received my audit score – a 74. And this was my 2nd time – the first time I failed with a 73. These scores are just absolutely heartbreaking. I couldn’t sleep last night because all I could think about was what question I should have changed – or should I have spent 5 minutes longer on that simulation.

Its truly heartbreaking. I really dont know what more to do. Both times before taking the exam using Becker I was scoring in the mid 80’s and occasionally the lower 90’s on practice tests.

I have NINJA notes and I rewrote those before the exam as well.

What more can I do to get the extra point?!!?

@cpaorbust My study friend has failed AUD twice with TWO 74s! So very similar to you. Another girl I know passed today with just a 75. Very close call there.

What I would do when I thought I “knew” all my material is google as much as you can. There is a lootttt of free very helpful information, notes, flashcards, etc (hint hint) that you can find online. Get the recently released questions for years 2009-2013. I ALWAYS go over those and love them. Doing questions in different formats also prevents fatigue (at least for me) I have the Wiley physical book, TestBank, Becker physical flashcards, recently released PDFs, then random notes and flashcards and such I have found online.

    Get the Wiley TestBank.

Also, READ THE QUESTION. Most of us are guilty with rushing through and picking the first answer they think is right… and I feel like you might do this more for AUD particularly because you “think” you know it because you worked in Auditing!

    AUD: 84
    REG: 84
    BEC: 79
    FAR: 83

I had to pass both FAR and AUD in July/Aug window, or lose credit for REG (already passed BEC). Decided to tackle the monster first. Felt cautiously optimistic walking out. Then BAM! 74. Yes, 74. Deflating. The most devastating thing to happen to me academically. I went on to pass AUD, since I already had it scheduled … SO, if that 74 was a 75 in FAR, I'd be 100% done now. But it wasn't. So I lost REG. Now I have to retake REG and FAR because of that one point. VERY deflating.

That being said, there is NOTHING you can do about it. (Don't even try and protest the score). No crying over spilt milk. Shake it off. Take a few days away from studying, then get back on it. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Best advice: put it behind you. You MUST. I keep telling that to myself every day.

    Licensed Florida CPA:
    B: 71, 73, 79
    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.

Thank you everyone for the encouraging words – and also thoughts and feelings of being defeated. It is nice to know that I am not alone in my feelings – and more importantly – it is nice to have others who have been there encourage and show that it can be done!!!

Side question: Has everyone ever used one of Roger's CPA Study Cram's? I had a friend suggest it and wondered if it would help?!?!

    Hi,

    I've never seen Roger material….

I just started re-writing the Ninja notes yesterday and I feel they're a great addition to MCQ's question bank.

    When is your test???

    AUD - Done
    REG - Done
    BEC - Done
    FAR - August 2015

After I failed FAR I studied again for 3 months and it was a massive massive massive effort that only raised my score from 71 to 72, so I can relate. I was ready to give up and say eff it. But I dug back in, put in another massive three month effort and got a 75. BINGO!. Hang in there I know exactly how you feel. Forget about, knock the dust off, get back up on the horse. If you fail again, repeat. and repeat and repeat if you have to. It is heartbreaking to be so close and fail, but it won't kill you. The day you send in your application for your CPA license (as I did today) will make up for it!!!!!!!!!!

What really helped me for AUD was Gleim. There are about 1500 MCQ (some repeats and some difficult publisher adapted ones). I made sure to do them ALL. My average score at the end was around a 72..I got a 92 on the actual test.

I also read the NINJA notes at least 5x before the exam. In fact, all I remember doing (besides getting through Becker once) was sitting back in my computer chair for HOURS doing Gleim MCQ, Becker Progress tests, reading NINJA, and reading the Becker Textbook twice. I didn't really write much or memorize any mnemonics (except RAPMEAM RAPMEAM or something like that)

This all took exactly 7 weeks.

Btw I had HORRIBLE audit professors in college.

    Hope that helps

I was hoping to just study for about 3 weeks and take it again at the beginning of the testing window – I was shooting for October 5th or whatever the first Saturday in October was. From everything everyone is saying that is probably not a good idea – I was just thinking that I already know a lot of the information so if I just pound out MCQ from now until then (3 weeks) that might be enough??
