AnonymousInactiveSo just like so many others – yesterday I received my audit score – a 74. And this was my 2nd time – the first time I failed with a 73. These scores are just absolutely heartbreaking. I couldn’t sleep last night because all I could think about was what question I should have changed – or should I have spent 5 minutes longer on that simulation.
Its truly heartbreaking. I really dont know what more to do. Both times before taking the exam using Becker I was scoring in the mid 80’s and occasionally the lower 90’s on practice tests.
I have NINJA notes and I rewrote those before the exam as well.
What more can I do to get the extra point?!!?

AnonymousInactive@gt5717b – that's totally how I felt!!! I felt like my questions didn't get more difficult – I would agree I was a little worried but I honestly felt like I just knew the answers. Like maybe they did get harder but I just knew the answer. Just like you I have checked my score about a billion times thinking that the 4 is magically going to turn into a 5!!!!!
@InfernoOmni – yes, I know the material very well – I worked in audit for 3 years – I can explain it to anyone. I don't memorize any of it – most of it just comes from real world examples that I have in my head already. That's why I was doing so well on the practice tests. The ONLY thing I memorized was the mnemonics which I didn't even use! I think adding the Wiley Test Bank is a good idea though – switch up my questions – get some new sims – since this is going to be my 3rd time going through the questions I will be repeating a lot of the same Becker questions.
BRUTAL!!!!!!!

futureARcpaMemberI work in audit as well and failed AUD the first go around. I suggest redoing all of the Becker material except don't do all the highlighted Gearty says. Take your own notes. I barely even looked at the book. Also, I added NINJA notes and Wiley test bank and hammered the MCQ. I did all of this and my score jumped 23 points. You can do it!
FAR: 79 (Becker basic)
AUD: 68 (Becker basic), 91 (Becker, WTB, NINJA)
BEC: 64 (blind), 81 (Becker, WTB, NINJA)
REG: 68 (Becker basic), 73 (Becker, WTB, NINJA), REMATCH 2/27September 10, 2013 at 2:12 pm #445234

AnonymousInactiveThe first time I took AUD I scored a 71. The next time I scored a 91. The difference, notes. I was fortunate that a friend of mine had already typed up notes basically outlining the Becker book which was what I used to study. I would read the chapter and then I would write all of the notes for that chapter to help ingrain it in my head. I think it made a world of difference. In my opinion, with AUD, it is more important to understand the concepts than just being able to breeze through MCQs. I would HIGHLY recommend doing note writing, whether that be Ninja or making your own. It really helps reinforce the material.I would NOT go back and rewatch the videos unless there is something you don't quite understand, then you can pull up the video and see if the instructor explains it better. I'd say, schedule your exam for about 5-6 weeks out and spend most of your time reading, writing notes and really understanding the material.
I did zero SIM practice because in my experience, to do well at SIMS, you just flat out have to know the information.
Good luck to you. Have your pity party and then get right back on it. And like many others have said before, don't study like you need 1 more point, study like you need 75 more points.

AnonymousInactivecpaorbust- oh man, that stinks. You are just a few points away. I failed audit in May with a 69 and I was so frustrated with myself. Your comment above about how you worked in audit and know it so well struck a chord with me. In my previous jobs, I did a lot of audit work and I really enjoyed my audit classes, so I thought the audit section would be interesting. It was, until I failed my exam. I was pissed. At that point, I decided to let go of how I would handle an audit in the real world and look at the material as the AICPA says it should be. I started studying for my audit re-take as if I had never seen the material before. I still have no idea if I passed (thanks, Texas), but I hope you will kick audit's butt when you retake it.

nishvikParticipant@ cpaorbust I can cut copy paste your situation with regards to Audit except that I dint use Ninja notes.
I failed audit twice (73/72) and my main problem is SIMULATIONS and some weak areas which I have to improve.I was thinking to buy ROGER mainly for lectures but its out of my budget. My prep material for audit were Becker+Wiley testbank.
Now for my third try I am plannin to buy Ninja 10 point combo lite coz its in my budget. Also lot of people suggest to read Wiley textbook so U can consider that.
I am right now preparing for BEC,but still Audit gives me shivers.
These exams have practically taken away my normal life.
Hope that we can pass this exam
FAR- 79 -->Becker self study, Final review & Flashcards
REG -72-->Becker ,76-->Becker plus Wiley test bank
AUD- 73 Becker,72-->Becker+Wiley,69-->Added ninja notes,89 --> Added Gleim review
BEC- 84 Becker plus Wiley Test bankI am Done !!!!

samdiegoCPAMember@cpaorbust My study friend has failed AUD twice with TWO 74s! So very similar to you. Another girl I know passed today with just a 75. Very close call there.
What I would do when I thought I “knew” all my material is google as much as you can. There is a lootttt of free very helpful information, notes, flashcards, etc (hint hint) that you can find online. Get the recently released questions for years 2009-2013. I ALWAYS go over those and love them. Doing questions in different formats also prevents fatigue (at least for me) I have the Wiley physical book, TestBank, Becker physical flashcards, recently released PDFs, then random notes and flashcards and such I have found online.
Get the Wiley TestBank.
Also, READ THE QUESTION. Most of us are guilty with rushing through and picking the first answer they think is right… and I feel like you might do this more for AUD particularly because you “think” you know it because you worked in Auditing!
AUD: 84
REG: 84
BEC: 79
