ihatestudyingParticipantFailed audit again. Thinking about giving up. Was killing the multiple choice questions on Wiley test bank and still got 68. Maybe it was the sims. But not sure how to study those besides just doing multiple choice. I had enough. Already lost my one passing score. Starting to think ill never get it done. Sorry for venting. But I’m sick of this. Even if I take again in January and pass I’ll never pass the other 3 in 18 months.

skioklahomaMemberSorry to hear it. I walked out of AUD a few weeks ago thinking I must of gotten every question right. I didn't, and though I passed I would have liked a higher score. It's a tough exam. Just get back on the horse, you'll get it done.

Marivy22ParticipantThis is one of those things that if you decide not to continue now, is going to chase you for the rest of your life. I am 31, married and with one 2 yr old. Now, I think that I should have done this when I was living with my parents, but guess what, since i didn't I have to do it now………
I got an f-ing 74 in FAR, so here I go again. I am going to spend the rest of the week with the family and next Monday I will be hitting the books for FAR again, and then BEC.
For AUD I used Becker and Wiley test bank for about 7 weeks. For FAR I used Becker, Wiley test bank ,and Yaeger CRAM (one week before the exam), studied for 10 weeks because I failed on taking good notes during my first time around thru the lectures.
Done 😉

mla1169ParticipantMissing out on the Watts Sells award may be better suited to its own thread than within a thread about failing and retaking the exam multiple times. Too much like rubbing salt in an open wound, IMHO.
hatestudying, you've got a lot invested in this, and like keeptrying you are an inspiration to other who need to know it is worth it NOT to give up.

MinimortyParticipant@ski – Yeah, you were out of it as soon as you got the 91 on FAR. The award may have gotten you in the door somewhere if you had no prospects, but nobody is going to care about that in 5 years. Its all about the relevant work experience and who you know.

i will be more than happy to tell you my strategy
i started with becker self study in 2006. i half assed it and didn't take it seriously. took each section twice and failed twice
fast forward to 2010, decided to take it seriously so signed up for becker live class. did nothing but eat sleep and ish cpa. took a few sections and failed and became very frustrated and depressed
i decided i needed to change my whole strategy and switched to yaeger, i've been outta school for a while and heard yaeger is more of a teaching course. i started taking insane notes on what i didn't know and on what was important to know only, no need to take notes on things you already know and won't forget. i viewed the lecture and took notes, read the chapters and took notes, did mcq and added on to my notes, did some sims and added on to my notes, did questions on cpareviewforfree and added on to my notes. i ended up with about 60 pages of notes typed in word. about 2 weeks prior to the exam date i would rewrite all 60 pages by hand, this forced me to think about what i was writing at a slow pace instead of quickly skimming and not really paying attention. i read through my notes everyday, not all 60 pages at once but a few pages here and there to the point i was very familiar with them by exam date
another thing i changed was to schedule 1 exam per window and to only schedule when i feel 100% ready. so many times i would feel unprepared for an exam and think if i only had 1 more week to study i would be good. also, i found out i can only study for 3 hrs/day max. more is counter productive and actually hurts my studies
you have to find out what works best for you, everyone is different and what may work for some may not work for others. its a pain in the butt cuz i spent years trying to figure this out for myself, trial and error. unfortunately, trial and error is the only way of finding out
believe in yourself and know that alot of us on here are struggling with you. the secret to passing the cpa exam is to never give up, if you don't give up, you can not fail!!! good luck

jenuno01Member@Minimorty LOL!! you are exactly right. And @skioklahoma, why would you make such comments? You are not helping at all… and like Mini says… a 75 is just as good as a 100… it's just like in college, I knew people that did nothing but study and get As on eveything… Me? I would get As and Bs, but I was always had an accounting-related job or internship…and guess who ended up with an awesome high-paying auditor job?? My advice to you is to GO SOMEWHERE! << LOL

LauraParticipant@ski–I'm sorry I think all of us want to pass and I do believe all of us want to do the best we can….and if that ends up being a 75 for me then I'm okay with that. I appreciate your comment above about wanting to do better but on this thread the intent of it was perceived as flaunting your passing grade to those of us who have failed before.

jenuno01Member@ski I agree with @keeptrying.. your comment was just way off base specifically for this post… we are trying to motivate someone to not give up and here you come saying you wish you would've scored higher than a 90? LOL –Just not very comforting… I didn't mean to be rude or anything… but I believe there are other posts on this site in which your comment would've been more appropriate.

nuclear3579MemberI would like to say that NoLifecpa has an important message in his/her long post above: The key is finding the strategy that works for you.
For me it was a final review 2 weeks before the test. Weekend before is dedicated for the Final exams. Morning of the test go over all HW questions in the back of each chapter (used becker), and I ALWAYS, ALWAYS tested on a monday or tuesday…going right from final exams to the actual test was critical for me.
After my first FAR failure, I always followed the above strategy and was met with a passing grade.
You have to find what works for you, I believe that 100%.
