rickycpaMemberI failed Audit again with 74. I previously failed Aud with 71 and 73. Looking at the score report, all I got 3 times were the same situation : Strong at MC Weak at Sim. Is there anyway to improve my score for some points ? I really don’t know how to study Simulations. This is my last section. Advice please. Thank you!
I need some luck!

rickycpaMember@Becks. Thank you for asking. I used Becker and Roger. I also used Gleim and Wiley online test bank to supplement them. Simulations got me every single time. I passed all other 3 with one shot. But I just can't get through Aud.
I see you get a 74 before and 91 now. What did you do differently ? Mind to share? Congrats on your end of the CPA journey

AnonymousInactiveThis is my theory – it is SO easy for a cpa review candidate to get frustrated with the exam and the scores they get if they are not high enough that we automatically default to changing review programs to try to make it fresh and learn it in a different format. I would really recommend using one review program that best corresponds to your learning style (I am a big proponent of Becker, personally). However, I would do multiple choice questions like nobody's business! Do as many as you can. But more so than just doing them, really look for the call of the question and review with yourself why the answer is the way it is. This will help you in nailing down the theory which will then give you the ability to apply the theory when doing the TBS.
In the past, examiners have loved to test on audit reports and how reports change based on different situaitons. Memorize the unqualified opinion like it is the pledge of allegiance. Know how it changes for difference scenarios. Again, by knowing the theory behind it it will help in the TBS as well as the multiple choice quesitons.
Lastly, look at the chart/graph provided to you with your score and take a hard look at it. reflect back to your exam and the questions you had. If there was an area that sticks out in terms of when you read the question you couldn't remember the specifics of it, spend some time reviewing those. Still review the other information, but turn your focus to the areas that you may not have known all that well. In reviewing, be sure to utilize the practice TBS in the Becker software (if your software is still current). Those are great at preparing you for what could potentially see.
It is also never a bad practice to do some practice exams in softwares (such as becker) – those will also provide TBS examples if I remember correctly.

rickycpaMember@Becks. I truly appreciate for your valuable input. What would you recommend to study areas such as Audit risks and audit procedures ? Those concepts are easy to understand but they become complicated when appling to different scenarios.
@mmcgrad1 Yes. I did Gliem simulations. The simulations I got this time were mostly FAR related. I did not see familiar ones in Gleim tho. Thanks for your suggestions.

thefirst71MemberHi there, my approach was a bit different (Becker). I practiced all the sims in the homework, and final exam for REG and ended up getting weaker on the SIMS and getting a 70. For the other exams, I didn't touch any of the practice sims, as they were often oversimplified. Instead, I took active notes on the materials, reviewed what I had written that day, and continued throughout the book. I also purchased the Ninja Notes before I went into the material to give me a broad overview and understanding of what lies ahead. So I did my best to understand the material and attempted to apply it toward the SIMS. This worked better for me as I passed the other sections. Half the battle for me was to understand what they were asking. So I first took notes on the prompt and wrote down what I had to answer and in which cell. Sometimes I knew the subject, sometimes I didn't. I got frustrated on REG and gave up, but no matter how hard it is, never give up!

rickycpaMember@thefirst71 Thank you for your input. I appreciate it.
I will take notes, work on Simulations and countinue to practice on MCs. I am not sure if anyone can get a pass if you are strong at MC but weak at Simulations

mgoloubenkoMemberVirtually in the same situation, I just got my score report and had stronger in MCQs, weaker in SIMs ( I got a 71). Not really sure what to do to improve on SIMs, but I hope this doesn't become a trend for me.

mgoloubenkoMemberYeah, I've been Googling about the Strong MCQs, Weak SIMs combo and came up on a few posts from the past and it seems like the biggest thing was that people really learned how to use the Authoritative Literature. I utilized it some but not as well as others obviously because people said they could get 60% of the SIMs based off of that alone. I will have to practice this and I think I might buy the $10 SIMs on cpareviewforfree
USC was an amazing experience. I completely recommend it, wish I learned more Auditing though hahaha 😉

AnonymousInactive1st time-i got 73 weaker mcq and weaker sims
2nd time i got 73 stronger mcq and weaker sims
3rd time i got 83 stronger mcq and weaker sims.
the third time i got gleim to supplement my becker and i did become more comfortable with Authoritative Literature. beckers sims for audit are not enough, you need to supplement with another review product. i think i did okay the 3rd time on the sims. but i got 5 stronger and 1 comparable on mcq.
