Failed AUD with 65… What should I do now?

This morning, I found out that I failed AUD with 65.. I though I had a good chance of passing as the test seemed easier than other sections.. but shockingly, I scored weaker on all but one part..

I only used NINJA MCQ last time and studied only about 2 weeks, scoring about 65% avg and 70% trending. I skipped books and lectures as I was on rush and wanted to pass the exam by the last test window.

I am planning to re-take the exam on July, and because I memorized a lot of Ninja MCQs, I feel that I need to use another material to study. Should I purchase Wiley Test Bank and just hammer MCQs? or purchase the Roger CPA review course?

Also, my REG credit will expire on 10/1/2015. That means I have a last chance to take the AUD on 10/1/2015 right? I would really appreciate your feedback.

    REG 86 (4/1/2014)
    BEC 77 (4/21/2014)
    FAR 75 (4/20/2015)
    AUD

I'm curious, how many questions did you do in those 2 weeks? How many did you not see?

    Hey zerosky

First of all good job with getting a 65 in AUD and only studying for two weeks. I know many friends who studied longer and attained the same score as you. But yea you should definitely jump back on the wagon and hit the books again. Since you already are using Ninja MCQ maybe you should think of getting the Ninja Book or possibly the Ninja Notes. Both are fairly inexpensive and can allow you to better understand the subject matter. See if you can reset the MCQ so you can start studying fresh from the beginning. A lot of AUD as you probably saw was that there a fair amount of conceptual questions that you need to have a good grasp of the subject matter.

If i were you i would try and schedule the test a bit later in July or even in August. Simply to ensure that you know the subject matter. And yes the last day you could take the test without losing your last section would be Aug 31. You got this.

    AUD -88 (12/07/2013)
    FAR -83 (05/03/2014)
    REG -80 (09/09/2014)
    BEC -71,74,77(05/28/2015)

Audit was the only exam I failed. Got a 68 first time. There's some areas IMO where doing MC questions helps but there are other parts where you are better off understanding the reasons and then doing the MC questions. Financial statement assertions for the relevant transactions cycles (COVERU is becker's mnemonic) and segregation of duty (ARC). They seem relatively straight forward but if you don't know the reasons, the questions can be tricky. It'll be hard to get a grasp of them by just doing MC questions IMO. Also, sign up to use the AICPA Authoritative Literature. Very helpful to learn how to maneuver through that as its not like google. It should be good for 2 maybe 3 sims on test day, not including the research question.

    Good luck.

    FAR - 78, FEB2014,
    REG - 82, MAY2014
    BEC - 79, JULY2014
    AUD - 68, 86, MAY2015 (ALL DONE!!!)

Ineedsomesun touched on what my experience was also (I failed my audit attempt quarter 1). The answers for the multiple choice are almost all correct given a certain circumstance. If you are not in tune with the different situations then you are going to miss the correct answer. I thought I passed audit and was super bummed when I didn't. You should be ready by July to take it again, two weeks is enough to learn most the concepts, but not master the material.
