I am taking the AUD exam tomorrow and am doing some last minute review. I am using Steve Martin’s review along with looking over my friends Becker information. One area I saw that contradicted itself was necessary/justified departures from GAAP. Can someone please comment on whether the paragraph is required to be after the opinion or it can be either before or after the opinion (unqualified report)? Thank you!

AUD - PASSED - 84 -(11/21/11)
REG - PASSED - 83 -(1/17/12)
BEC - PASSED - 86 -(2/28/12)
FAR - PASSED - 84 -(5/14/12)

It can be either before or after the opinion in the unqualified report.

generally rule is after, but for this one justified GAAP departure, Becker says that it could be before or after.

I saw in Becker it said it could be before or after for this, but Steve Martin and the Video posted above both say only after. Thanks for the responses.

WHICH ONE IS STEVE martin review?

Steve Martin review is MDS CPA Review. I live in the Youngstown Ohio area and some people I went to school with at YSU and people I worked with in public used it. My review says emphasis of a matter can be either before or after the opinion paragraph in an unqualified report. This is consistent with Becker and Jeff. The justified departure from GAAP I was confused.
