I have yet to touch the SIMS, as I’ve been told that there’s no real way to prepare for them. So, I’m wondering if I should just review my notes at this point or keep cranking through the MCQs.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

go practice as many sims as possible, it's half your score. Just took AUD and im not sweating the MCQ results, im sweating the sims score.

The AUD exam I got 2 months ago (May 20th) was mostly a big-picture exam. Not very much testing on micro-type stuff or calculations. Although, I found myself guessing on almost every MCQ in one of the testlets. The SIMs weren't bad at all though.

Interesting. Differing opinions on the MCQs. I think I'll do a few hundred more MCQs and hopefully 10-20 sims.

Another question, was time management an issue for anyone during the exam?

I haven't had issues with timing. I tend not to spend much time on the MCQ's. If I don't know it, I guess. I don't flag and I don't come back to any. It's the SIMs that I spend the most time on. And now, with the increased SIMs and decreased MCQ, I don't think time management is so much an issue as it once was. I took FAR earlier this year – the last window with the old format. I had to push myself faster thru the MCQ's because there were 90 of them. The tests are indeed shorter now because of the decreased MCQ…unless you happen to get a bunch of really long, involved SIMs that require a lot of time.

Took aud yesterday, none of the testlets took more than 30 min. Was a nice change of pace from far. Got 2 research q's so that helped. None of the sims were long ( downside to a short 5 answer sim is i would think each answer is worth more)

i thought going in to the test i had back on tuesday that the sims were going to be very time consuming and i'd need as much time as possible for them, so i worked through the MCQ at a pretty fast clip. I flagged maybe 5 on each of the MCQ testlet and went back and reviewed those questions a bit, but otherwise finished the MCQ in about 1 hour. In total i submitted the exam with about an hour and 15 left. Wish I had given myself more time to review the MCQ, knowing that i wouldnt need all that time with the sims. Still I do concur with crazyleon…don't overthink the MCQ too much, the more you start reviewing each of your answers the more chance you have of talking yourself out of the right answer.

Good luck to you with your exam, kicks it ass.

I would definitely look at the SIMS. Unlike REG, I found that doing SIMS actually helped me in the exam for AUD….

With any other exam I would say you're crazy for not looking at sims. However, AUD sims didn't do me much good. I would definitely recommend looking at a few to get the structure down but they are usually drop down boxes very similar to MCQs. I took AUD twice, the first time I focused quite a bit of time on sims and understanding concepts, got my worst score 64. 2nd attempt all I did was mcq's, thousands of them, didn't even look at sims and got an 80.

AUD is subjective, the “whats the best answer” I never did well with. I got to a point where I could answer mcqs without even finishing reading them. In most cases I would say thats a terrible strategy to have, with AUD it helped me pass. I was able to see key words in mcq's of the exam and be able to narrow down my choices based on prior mcq's from my study material.

    Hope this helps! Good luck!

    FAR - 78
REG - 72,74,71...please just go away REG nobody likes you!
    BEC - 82
