    Hi Everyone,

I took my first CPA exam- Audit last week and did not finish the exam. I was so nervous that I spent an 1 and 1/2 hours on the first M/C testlet. With that being said, I was able to complete only 4 of the simulations. Can anyone inform me and know if they curve and do not count all 7 tasks portion simulation testlet? Or can I just assume that I failed the exam because the simulations alone is 40% of the exam score. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Don't assume anything. I passed FAR the first time with two tabs completely blank. There is hope if you did well on the MCQ's.

I straight-up guessed on 3 of my REG sims and still passed, which isn't quite as bad as leaving them blank, but you still definitely have a chance at passing. To answer your question, 6 of the 7 are scored. Hopefully one you skipped is the pretest.

Thanks for the feedback. I will keep my fingers crossed and pray that I did well on the M/C questions.

@Sapper what part was the hardest for your and why. How did FAR feel compared to the resr? I have the beast in a month and need a feel. It seems vast but somewhat undercontroll compared to BEC

    Reg 11/15/2011 - 80
    Aud 02/28/2012 - 81
    Bec 05/31/2012 - 78

@Givemesleep REG was hardest for me. Tax and b-law were both weaknesses for me in school.

I didn't struggle as much with FAR. Sure, there's a ton to remember, but I felt that it made so much more sense than the material in REG, which just felt like an exercise in memorization.

I the first time I took FAR I did horribly on the multiple choice (I totally blanked on half of them because of nerves, and took me very long to get through MCQ that by the time I got to simulations I had 45 minutes left) and only did 2 of the simulations (one being the research tab), left 5 completely blank… and somehow managed a 54. Not that I passed, but if I got a 54 with barely doing a simulation, you might just have a “I can't believe I passed” moment coming to you. Stay positive and envision yourself receiving a 75 test score 🙂

Also, on a side note. Having studied as much as I did and doing as poorly on that test as I did, knowing because it was nerves/anxiety that got the best of me, I consulted with a spiritual advisor (yes laugh all you want) and she told me to stop approaching the test so emotionally and just do what I need to do to do to be prepared. She told me to go for a run and relax the morning of the exam (versus the usually last minute cramming and psyching myself out that I like to do) and review the key elements an hour before the exam, and let me tell you that my second time taking FAR was a much better experience. I was calm, collected, and so focused that if it wasn't against AICPA rules I could literally recall each question and what I answered. So next time, maybe relax a little. It goes a long way.
