Did anyone here use Yaeger for AUD and do well on the exam?

I was reading through several threads here and many people have said that Yaeger isn’t all that great for AUD. I’m currently up to Module 2 in the Homestudy lectures and I enjoy Gary’s lectures. I like his explanations and he’s good in emphasizing what’s important. So far, I’m very happy with it. However, since I’m reading that people here don’t like Yaeger for AUD, I’m kind of concerned that Yaeger may not be teaching enough for me to pass this part. AUD has never been my strong area, so I really need a good review on it, so I hope Yaeger is doing that for me. So, I do hope that people’s negative comments towards Yeager’s AUD review course are subjective and not actual fact.

The reason I pick Yaeger is because they suit my needs very well. No way can I walk into a classroom, listen to an instructor talk for 3+ hours and remember all of it when I walk out the classroom. It doesn’t work with me. And I’m horrible taking notes, especially when the instructor talks fast. So, Yaeger is the best for me. I can take my time watching the DVD lectures and pause the video when I need more time to write important notes down.

So, I like Yaeger, but like I said, since many people here said they aren’t crazy about it, I’m afraid that I may not be getting the required amount of review I need for the exam. And therefore, I won’t know enough to pass.

So, my question is….did anyone here use Yaeger for AUD and pass? Did Yaeger prepare you well for it?

Gary has greatly improved over the years. He teaches by working questions and simulations in the Wiley book. I had one of the really complicated simulations that Gary reviewed on my AUD exam. However, Gary could improve as a teacher, in my opinion. I personally think that Gary needs to stand up and give a great lecture, like Dr. Yaeger and Cindy, before working any problems. My personal favorite lecturer for AUD is Garland with Lambers.

With that said, I think that Yaeger's AUD is not nearly as strong as Yaeger's BEC, REG and FAR. Yaeger's BEC, REG and FAR are simply the best, in my opinion. Dr. Phil Yaeger and Cindy are two of the best teachers. Yaeger is the best course for working complicated problerms.

AUD is a different beast. AUD is 100% memorization and a very, very tricky word game. I had to do 3,000 multiple choice questions and simulations to pass AUD. As much as I hate to advertise Becker, I think that Becker is the best course for AUD because of Becker's memorization tools.

@CPAMan, I used Yaeger for AUD and while I wasn't super crazy about it, it did the job. I didn't pass the first time around, but did the second time with much less effort than the first time around. I don't blame Yaeger for not passing the first time because Gary said that any extra time you have should be spent on MCQs and I didn't yield that advice so I wasn't prepared for the trickiness of the MCQs. The second time around I spent most of my extra time on MCQ rather than reading the SAS in the back of the text as I did the first time around. I do suggest briefly reading over the modules after watching the lectures to help you put everything together and get a better grasp on the material. Good luck!

I used Yaeger for AUD and got a 93 on the first try. Gary might not be the most entertaining lecturer but he's very well organized, knows his stuff, stays on the subject and gets the job done. I would certainly recommend Yaeger for audit.

Thanks, guys! I guess I should be ok with Yaeger. I’ll let you know once I finish the first 5 modules (which are the most important modules). From what I’m reading here, I guess the key to passing AUD is memorization and lots and lots of MCQs. I just hope I can fully prepare for this in two months. Seems like such little time. My exam is May 28th. I will do my very best to study as hard as possible for these next two months.

I use gleim and Wiley. I finished 750 MCs from Gleim and 10 sets of Wiley Test. And based on my today's experience, I would like to say 90% of MCs in the test would be covered by these two softwares. And the simulations in the real test will be much more simple than those in Wiley's.

For Yaeger, I dont agree that Gary really did a good job for my Audit review. Only when I did thousands of Mcs and tried to get through the whole concepts for each phrase, then I could be so confident in my exam. For Gary's lecture, compared with Cindy, it was really terrible.

I took the AUD exam today and found the MCQs to be very straightforward. Ironically, the 2nd and 3rd testlets only got slightly more difficult, but other than that, I thought most of the questions were basic and were easier than the Gleim questions. Now, the simulations were a nightmare and they're worth 40% too. Ouch! Some sims were ok, but most of it was very difficult. If I failed, it's all because of the sims.

As for Yaeger, I think Gary is great. There's only so much he can do. You'll have to do the practicing of MCQs on your own and I doubt anyone here can say they passed the exam with flying colors without doing any sets of practice questions. I think he emphasized the key points very well. But then again, I guess my satisfaction with Yaeger is mainly due to the fact that I had such awful Auditing teachers in College. Couldn't understand a thing. With Gary, I finally understand the concept and that's why I'm very happy with the review course. Different strokes for different folks.

I just finished the AUD test yesterday. I would say the test would be much more simple than what I expected, since in the last minute before exam, I still feel I didnt cover enuf material. My most MCs are almost same as the MCs I have done before from Wiley and Gleim software. In case I was too excited to make some careless error, I had to reread the problem and my solutions very carefully in the second time. For simulations, I have to say possibly I was lucky, because I didnt meet any problem I assumed super harder, like Internal Control or Evidence. The research problems are very straightforward. For simulations, most of problems I could be 100% assure.

But for my experience, Gary's lecture really only confused me a lot, since everytime he always suggests to use common sense or down to basic sense. Yeah, I am always top-student for every class, I do follow his instruction to make notes and read everything from every page. However, it's really impossible for me to memorize everything w/o understanding. Why I so like Fare Part from Yaeger, since Cindy really helped me to understand the concept rather than to know the “TERM”.The only improvement for my final review to Audit is only starting from when I started doing thousands of MCs, making notes for the wrong problems for each category (I have read my wrong-problems-collection-notes at least twice-this experience really helps me to cut off any possibility for the confusion of any definition) and reading the flashcards by Becker(read and make notes, in the morning of May 27, I spent 1 hour on quick reviewing all notes I written from Becker Flashcards to impress myself). While I would like to say Gary's notes is very helpful for me but not the lecture.

Anyway, I should start my third fight against BEC-One month schedule to conquer it. Any advice and idea for this part? Is it enough to take only 45 days to prepare REG. I want to finish all 4 parts before Aug 20. I need some break.

Some of the sims were ok. Though I did get one simulation that was a little iffy. After I took the exam, I read the AU section pertaining to that topic to see if I selected the correct answers and cannot find a clear cut answer. That's how iffy the question was. Though I just realized now that I could've researched it DURING the exam, lol, but I'm looking at the section now and like I said, a clear cut answer cannot be found. So, even if I did research it during the test, it still wouldn't help.

My research was not straightforward at all. It gave me a little story and it told me to cite the standard that best addresses that story. But I think I found the answer….I hope. My last sim involved some calculation and I believe I got them correct, but I was getting pressed for time at the end, so I didn't have a chance to double check or triple check my work. But assuming I didn't make any careless errors, I should have gotten that entire sim correct. I did get a couple of sims on other difficult topics. They required a lot of analysis and I really wracked my brain on those. I believe I did ok on those, but I'm not 100% sure, which worries me. And there was this one simulation that I was clueless on. Oh goodness me, I hope that was a pretest one. But even if it isn't, let's hope that's the only simulation I did bad on. Of course, I put in as much effort as I possibly could. Hopefully, all that effort made me get enough points on the sims to pass.

You definitely will pass, because you have made so many efforts in the test. Time for next test. Only 75 points you could pass. Not 100.

Yeah, I know. I took the test as if I'm aiming for a 99. For some reason, if I don't get a 99, I feel I'll fail, lol.

You will definitely pass too because you seem to be very confident and I think that's the main thing people need in order to pass. We now have to wait 3-4 weeks for our scores. I now have to study for REG without knowing my FAR and AUD results. It's painful, but I'll get through it somehow. Heh!
