“so i took audit the first time in 2Q and received a 42…..i put in a good solid 2 weeks of studying i know thats not enough to pass these exams so i took it again in 3Q ….easily put in 200+ hours viewing lectures, reading/writing notes, reading textbook, and working MCQ after MCQ with Wiley + Becker……got my score back received a 46!! wow….i am really in shock/depression because now i do not know how to attack this beast….on a side note I have no audit experience….but neither do some of my classmates who I was on par with in school and they still managed to pass…..on another note I have passed 1 exam BEC (76) but that expires next May….anyone that has good advice for a great study plan I really would appreciate it…because apparently I am doing something wrong….I am desperate/determined to pass this part of the exam (and how do people feel about tutors are they worth the expense?)”

You have to understand the topic really well. Audit is very wordy and it is not the correct answer but the BEST answer in the MCQs that you have to select.

You have to also understand the concepts really well. The number of MCQs you did means nothing if you don't understand the concept. If you don't understand and score well on practice MCQs, you probably just memorized the question.

Another thing is to try another CPA review course material. I don't know what year you are using. But if you want to pass, it is best to use the latest materials. Audit has the new clarified SAS, its not a whole lot of changes but you never know what will appear on your exams.

Practice simulations. You can buy a cheap package from CPAReviewForFree. The Wiley ones are great as well as Becker. You need to ace both MCQs and Sims to pass. Since the MCQs are pretty much weighted more, you really don't have much luxury to mess up.

Lastly, on exam day, make use of the full duration (4hours). If you are trying to rush through those testlets, you are bound to make mistakes here and there. Allocate your time accordingly eg/ 60% x 240 minutes = 144 minutes for first three testlets and 96 minutes for the Sims. Use breaks if you need to.

Have you tried the NINJA method? I have always taken notes, but the emphasis on re-writing them makes a world of a difference. You should give it a try!

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

For audit, I did nothing but READ the books and MCQ each day. I would read/skim through 2 chapters a day and do 180 questions a day for 3 weeks leading up to the exam. 3 weeks of going through the materials/lectures, 3 weeks of “final” review.

I scored a 94 on Audit using this method.

    FAR - 84
    AUD - 94
    REG - 86
    BEC - 86
