Anyone can give me some tips on how to look up stuff quickly? I used the keywords form my texts and still cannot seem to find the exact results that the textbook show. I am getting really frustrated as I only have a few days to do the exam and already wasting hours on this. I don’t see why it should be so hard to research something. What’s worst is no one seem to teach how to use this.

The trick is mostly feeling comfortable with the different tools in the Authoritative Literature tab.

Split the screen horizontally and then adjust the size so that the authoritative literature takes up most of the page. (The literature page being too small was something that drove me nuts as I tried to navigate through all that text).

Enter in a basic topic into the search. I usually have better luck using the advanced search tab…something to with how it searches the phrase if it's more than one word.

If you entered a key word of the topic, it should be in one of the first results that show up. These first few results are usually somewhat similar because they usually come from a similar section of the database. When those links pop up they look intimidating because they have a million different subsections. LOOK AT THE END OF THE LINK- it will have a descriptive title of what you are looking at. If you click on one and it doesn't specifically answer your question but the material is close, click the “next result button” which will take you to the next link listed in your search results.

I really struggled with these too, but after fiddling around and practicing for a little it will make sense. Good luck!

One of the things that I did was to write out in a notebook the main sections of the database. This gave me a better understanding of the big picture of what is where and when I was searching for something, I could eliminate searches that were not relating to my subject much faster. Good luck!
