I’m pretty sure that compliance is a negative assurance, but one of my MCQ is telling me that it is positive assurance when dealing with governmental standards.

It is called compliance audit, and it provides positive assurance… could someone please confirm this?

The difference between negative assurance and positive assurance is actually performing tests of the assertions themselves. In a government audit, the auditor has to read the laws and regulations and then test the attestations to be reasonably sure that the client is following them. Its part of a regular audit for government clients, is one of the supplemental procedures provided by GASB,

    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75
