Becker writes – “Predecessor auditors may reissue their report on FS as long as the report is still appropriate.”

Why the hell are they reissuing the same report? I don’t get it!

Or is that the successor auditor taking the predecessors audit and adding it to the comparative?

Any insight would be great!

The auditor's current report covers all financial statements (for all periods) presented. – There are different period FS are presented comparatively in the current FS.

Since successor didn't audit prior period FS, and responsible for current period, s/he want to make sure prior period FS are covered by predecessor although s/he is issuing the same report again.
