Best Way to prepare for Audit??

    Hello,

I am having a difficult time retaining all the information for audit. I read, view the lectures, and do the MC (using Becker). I heard doing tons of MC was beneficial but in Reg I had a better time actually getting my head around the material and then doing the MC…but it seems the opposite for Aud…anyone else agree?

I have no audit experience and am finding it really hard to concentrate on topics I have never encountered before in real life.

I outline the chapters after I view/read but find it is taking forever and might not be the best use of my time. Any suggestions on how to go about studying? I’m finishing up Chapter 3 in Becker (3 more to go)….do I have enough time to get through all of this by April 7 (my test date?) and still not get fired from my job for studying all the time? :p

    AUD- 97 1x
    REG- 81 1x
    BEC- 79 1x
    FAR- 88 1x

    DONE!

Honestly, whenever I started studying for a part, I usually get lost halfway through. Especially in Audit, It all kind of ties in together at the end. So my advice is that keep plowing through the material. For Audit, I read the material three times (the marked parts for becker) and did the questions in the passmaster three times as well. I used to at the end just do the questions while I was on the bed so it's really not that hard to do.

Btw a month is a really long time to finish three chapters and review. Here is a good trick. When you get to the end, just picture the whole audit process from beginning to the end. It all really makes sense

    FAR- 78 (Nov)
    AUD- 90 (Jan)
    BEC- 81 (Feb)
    REG- 89 (May)

What rolltide88 said. I don't know if I passed (took it last week) but after I finished all the study material in Becker, including the two practice exams, I STILL didn't have a good grasp of the material, just like you. So I just kept doing MCs up the yingyang. That's when it FINALLY started to click. I just kept doing sets of hundred MCs and my understanding went up substantially.

Also, you could supplemment with Wiley test bank for the review to hammer out more MCs and simulations (maybe if/when you get through all of Becker's MCs??). Just my experience.

    AUD: 2/28/2013 - 86
    FAR: 10/19/2013 - 83
    REG: 1/6/2014 - 80
    BEC: 2/27/2014 - 81

Jeff, I listen to your audio at night before I sleep. It's really helpful but sometimes, after a long day, I fall asleep listening and I have your audio notes in my dreams!

I thought that practice MCQ provided the most benefit when studying for AUD.

You have plenty of time. I used Becker too. I'd really just focus on the information they had highlighted in the books and hammer out as many MCQs as possible (I felt Becker's MCQs were very representative of the examine I took, probably even harder). Understand why each opinion is given and why certain procedures are done. The sims are a little difficult to study for though.

I think the Wiley Test Bank MCQ's and its simulations were enormously helpful.

    BEC - 76 (Kaplan)
    REG - 60, 73 (Kaplan) 80 (Roger CRAM)
    FAR - 66, 77 (Kaplan)
    AUD - 91 (Roger)

Every review course will tell you that you have to know the standard audit report. They are RIGHT! Once you know the standard report by heart, then you will know how to spot the exceptions. My first three attempts at AUD I didn't listen to them. On the forth attempt, I not only knew the standard audit report, but I could sing it to the tune from Gilligan's Island!
