So I just started studying for AUD yesterday. The new Becker studying format is a lot different. Most notably the extra “Skills Practice”. So far it doesn’t seem like too much extra work. But for study material that has lots of lectures, multiple choice questions, and simulations… this almost feels like I am a little overwhelmed. What do you guys think?

There is twice as much lectures now. I honestly like the old Becker.

It is extremely exhausting having to go through all of it.

Too much time and feels like a repetition

Is it necessary to watch the lectures again if Im doing a retake? Anyone re-watching lectures on their retake as well? I feel like its a waste of time. These Skill practice questions almost seems like mini TBS

@Spartan you passed Audit! congrats dude! As for the retake. I tried rewatching the lecture and could not keep my eyes open. For BEC its mostly calculations so its better to be practical than watch videos. So, I start to just hammer MC.

I kind of like the Skills Practice sections. Kind of wraps up everything. Plus they're really good for a final review if there are any unfamiliar areas. In FAR, Peter or Tim have a video that deconstructs every Skills Practice problem and work through it with you.

I've been using the new Becker software for audit as well. I noticed that in the skills practice portion, Gearty has been referring to mnemonics that we did not go over in the lectures (I've looked through the modules). The only reason I knew what his reference to “Dorcs” meant was because I studied for audit with the old software and that did go over it in the lecture. Anyone else notice this?

I actually like it because each module is kinda small and easy to digest. Skills I think give a good prep for sims… I am through the book and liked the new format better.

    HI everyone.
I just started the new Becker for REG. The learning style is a lot different- less focus on highlighting everything. My book was last updated in mid 2015. I've been trying to get hold of Becker to see about getting the latest book but i'm not sure if pays? The NINJA method is to view the lectures and take lots of notes. UGH!

    hi guys,

yesterday,i started studying for reg using the new becker materials. i like how they have broken down the chapters into small modules and homework for each module is to be completed right you finish that module. it definitely appears more manageable now but the test bank looks super condensed. they got rid of the optional questions and even the homework question are greatly reduced so thats a concerning thing for me. did you all notice this too?

So I personally like the skills practice. This will be my first exam so I cant compare to the old Becker format. That being said, I did a spreadsheet of all the FAR lectures, skill practices, and multiple choice and the program for FAR is over 200 hours of material (I used the high estimate for the times given for multiple choice). That doesn't include any practice exams. On the Becker software it says FAR is approx 150 hours. So I am not really sure where they are getting their estimate, and I may be able to go through some of the material quicker, but it is a TON of stuff and is overwhelming.

i dont know about you guys but my skill practice is only up to 50%. where can i view the other 50%? I finished all the slides. anybody who can share their experience and manage to get through? thanks!

@Miss C, Did you input the answers into the skills practice question? I think it only gives you 50% because you only watched the explanation but did not actually input the answer. If you put in the answer, I have no clue why it is saying 50% but maybe others have a better explanation. I truly hopes this helps.

I am personally planning on going through all the Becker lectures and Skills tests, but no multiple choice after. Once done with lectures I plan on going after Ninja MCQ aggressively. Then I will return to Becker after my understanding has been enhanced through repeated Ninja questions. Hoping this makes sense and if anyone has better advice, please share. I kind of like the new Becker, but I the accessibility or lack thereof of the E-book is a bit frustrating. Good luck all 🙂
