potatogunParticipantI had no calculations on my test. One benefit is that it lets you do the MC quickly, also it gives you time to freak out and doubt yourself. But I found the material a tad easier to keep in my head because there were not so much numbers to mix up, but really types of engagements and what levels of assurance.
FAR 92 - AUD 91 - REG 94 - BEC 86

AnonymousInactiveJeff-
I took my Audit exam this afternoon in the Prometric center in Westbury, NY. I had finished my 3rd testlet, when the power flickered out in the second exam room. Soon after, one half of my testing room lost power; however, I still had power as I began my first simulation. A few moments later, the fire alarms started going off in the testing center, and we were evacuated and told that we would be able to resume our exam at the point where we left off when the fire dept. cleared us to return. 3.5 hours later, we were informed by management of the building that the power was “likely” not going to come back on, as the backup power generator failed in providing power to the building and that electricians hadn't even arrived to assess the problem as of 7 PM (the power went out at 3:30). The Prometric staff, although helpful, seemed to want to split once they heard that there was a chance the power would not come back on, and sort of convinced all the other test takers to “reschedule their exam, free of charge, at a later date”.
As the other test takers conceded defeat, soon enough I was the only one sitting there, and they basically told me to leave, 2 hours before Prometric was scheduled to close, because the power probably wasn't going to come on and I would have to retake the exam from scratch.
I thought I was doing extremely well. I'm sure I as well as everyone else on this forum, know what the answer will be, but I'll ask it anyway, do you have any idea if the AICPA will let me resume the test from the point in which I left off? I don't even care if they give me new sims or anything, I just would feel so deflated knowing I have to go through another 90 MCs after everything I've been through today at the test center due to the negligence of the building's management. I asked the Prometric staff what would happen with the answers of the 3 testlets I had completed, and they said that they are saved by Prometric whether an exam is completed or not, so there is a trail of proof that I had finished by first 3 testlets, and hadn't written a thing in my sim. I realize this is a longshot, but it's the only hope I have to hold onto. I feel like I'm going up against a two headed monster (AICPA and Prometric) in this matter. I feel helpless, like I wasted 1.5 hours of my day driving to this mismanaged building in Long Island, and sitting there for 6.5 hours (3.5 of which were blindly hoping for power to come back on). Then to top it off getting stuck in an hour and a half of traffic home, and took 2 days of work off last week to prepare for my exam with absolutely nothing to show for it. Please let me know if there's any precedent in this matter, I figured I'd come here to ask/vent for help before the inevitable calls to Prometric/AICPA tomorrow that will surely waste more time and give me the unfortunate results that I am expecting.

AnonymousInactiveThat's what I figured Jeff. I appreciate the timely response. Maybe it's some sick sign from above that I REALLY need to earn it to pass. and by REALLY earn it, I mean pass the damn thing twice.

Could not sleep and came here to see what was going on. What a nightmare! I feel for you – they better let you retest this window on any day you want at a new test site for free! AICPA should spot you 10 points for unusual and inhumane treatment! Shaking my head – not even in my nightmares coud I imagine this.
Hope they can resolve this for you ASAP!

nycegurlParticipantBigShotDom32 – I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you! That is AWFUL! Hope they do something for you to compensate for the stress and trauma of going through something like that.
CPAWannaBe – Great to see you here!!! Let's get this sh*t done! I'm scheduled for AUD on 8/28. Haven't started studying as I was waiting to get my Yaeger study materials. Just got them and going to hit the books here pretty soon.
But having a hard time getting into the zone waiting to hear the verdict on BEC. It seems like I took that ages ago and still have to wait for ages to get the score.
big shot cpa – Definitely need to know all the different reports like the back of your hand!!! Ain't no joke. They get tricky with their wording.
We will pass this wordy mofo guys, get through this exam and move on with our lives!!! AMEN!!!

AnonymousInactiveIn REG and FAR, the Becker Passmaster simulations were helpful but not representative of what was on the real exams. Is that the case with AUD?
July 27, 2010 at 3:04 pm #251716
AnonymousInactiveI mean as far as format – not so much content.

YesIcanBeACPAParticipantHi Guys,
I'm re-taking AUD exam in 13 days, and I'm very nervous. In my first trial, I got 66 🙁
I did all Becker MCQ twice, did all sims once, and did final exam once. Thought I was well prepared, but I guess it wasn't enough.
This is how I'm preparing for the re-take now.
1) Read summary notes by chapter
2) Solve Becker MCQs
3) Solve Wiley MCQs
4) Repeat the steps for all five chapters (takes about 2-3 days to finish each Ch.)
Can anyone tell me if I should add anything on my steps?
(D-13………)

italianCPAParticipantHey there!
I took FAR yesterday. I am taking AUD in exactly two weeks and starting to study today.
I know AUD is half of the material than FAR, but I've never done auditing in my professional life, while financial accounting was my bread and butter.
What do you recommend for a two-week full time prep? I have becker and I have a very good memory.
However, after half hour of the first becker lecture, I'm already bored to death!

michelle119ParticipantHi,
I am sitting for my BEC exam in a few days, but am then going to start studying for AUD which I'm taking Aug. 27th. I'm studying full time at the moment but am starting to burn out. I'm using Becker's and have gone through most of the lectures (just so I could get the Becker's promise) and have never had any experience with auditing and am starting to get worried that I may not make it. Any thoughts on how to make it through the end of August while passing audit??
FAR 7/2 - 88
BEC 7/30 - 87
AUD 8/27 - 80

Just focus on how it will feel great to get this test behind you.
Break the material out by topic – lecture, highlight, skim chapter and do the homework, repeat until you complete the chapter
Move to the next chapter and do the same thing
Every day or rvery other day do 20 – 30 MCQ from previous chapters – keep the information fresh
Read the correct and incorrect answers
Study in 2 – 3 hours at a time – go away (work out, do laundry, clean house, nap, TV whatever) and come back
Do another 2 – 3 hours
I read the current chapters flash cards before going to sleep a couple of times a week
I used Becker and then supplemented with Gleim MCQ
– not sure if there were any word for word questions – but all the topics and questions were well covered by Becker and the Gleim MCQ.
Hope this helps
