michelle119ParticipantSo I went to bed at like midnight (EST) and I just got up now and I have a score!! I got an 80!! They must have released scores late because I was getting through and getting the error message for at least 75% of the night…. this is such a bizarre release…
FAR 7/2 - 88
BEC 7/30 - 87

AnonymousInactiveCongratulation to the people who pass the AUD exam.
I am the one who miss the passing line. Last night, 72 on my AUD exam. Sigh, I am planning to re-take it in October. I am not mad about the score, I am just frustrating and confuse about how I can do better for next time. I did the HW three time, so, I can say I am confident about the MCQ. I don't know what went wrong on my exam. How can I improve my score on simulation? Any suggestion?

fl halfsiesParticipantCorlala – I took AUD three times! The first time I had no idea what I was doing..don't know why I chose to sit. Second time a 74 with more preparation and understanding. The 3rd time I did about 2500 mc questions and 20 sims out of the Wiley book. With the questions – I did about 1,000 becker passmaster questions, the whole wiley book of about 700, used Gleim software and cpareviewforfree.com when I was at work. I think getting material from different sources will help if you're prone to memorize the answers. I think practice makes perfect.
I got a 77 which was odd, I think. I've always scored about 10 points higher on the actual test than the practice tests I take, but this time I only got what I did on practice. Def glad I do not have to take it again.

AnonymousInactiveTo fl halfsies, thanks for your advice. Your assumption regarding 10 points higher make senses in my situation. I first took AUD in Feb, 2010, got 63; then I took it again in Aug, got 72. Regarding MCQ, a lot of questions on the exam are very simular to the Becker material base on my experience.
My main concern is how I can improve my score on the simulation. I feel like the topics on the simulation are all over the place. Also, I always finish my exam with couple seconds left, which might be bad. I spend too much time on the written communication. =(

AnonymousInactiveI got a 45 on the Becker practice test for FAR, actual exam grade 81
I got in the 80's on the Becker practive test for AUD, actual exam grade 74
I am so mad that I did not pass audit. These tests really are the luck of the draw. I was completely prepared to take the test. On the written communications, I got the same topic on both….its a topic not addressed by Becker and not in the research tab on the actual exam so I was screwed. I literally had to make things up. I feel that if I got a written communication on anything except the topic I got, I would have passed.
I still don't get it though, my M/C seemed to got from normal to hard and hard again, maybe I bombed the third testlet?…I didn't know any of the FAR sims, but I knew all audit sims for the most part!
So frustrated!!!!! Had to shell out another $350 to reapply!!!

AnonymousInactiveGuys, have any of you purchase Jeff's CPA exam Quick Hits study guide? any opinion on it? Should I buy it?

fl halfsiesParticipantI can get rid of my materials but I don't think it would help, besides the 2010 Wiley book. I had the 2009 Becker lectures and questions…so it was kind of risky. Had the Yaegar cram for audit, but didn't think it was as helpful as their REG or FAR.
And Auditor – it really is luck of the draw, for all sections. For the written communications, you don't have to know the answer. Just right legibly (sp?). For FAR comm, I honestly put something like, I am not sure of the exact blah blah, but I will research and get back to you. For both. I had no idea what they were talking about. For the AUD comm, I did look up some stuff in the research and wasn't there under the key words of the communication. But I knew which standard it was and found the info based on the number. Also, the simulations are easier if you've taken other sections first, because the material overlaps. IMO.

fl halfsiesParticipantOh, and AUD is the worst part to fail, because it's the most expensive. When I took it the second time, I had an auditor friend take it as well. We were both excited when we got done until we got our grades – 73 and 74. I was baffled – that was a smart kid who was an auditor and it was my second time…
I don't think you can know how you did when you're done. I've taken a total of 7 tests – felt confident i passed on two…got 74's on both of those. My 67 in AUD was the only one I had pegged as a failure. These last two – could go either way on how I felt about the actual tests, but figured there was no way I could fail after my progress.
It's a difficult journey…and failure sucks. It's embarassing. But push through it, put in the effort, and hope you get a fair test. That's all I can recommend 🙂
