I’m taking ACC 490 (Auditing) through Phoenix U, to complete my accounting concentration requirement. It’s a month-long course. Do you think it might be possible to prepare using this class instead of committing more $$$ and more time toward another home study course? I already have the Wiley test bank, which was pretty helpful in preparing for FAR, though the sims were too easy.

    BEC 85
    REG 66, 87

I took the same class just to get the accounting credits.

I have a bachelors and Masters degree in Finance.. so I was definitely short on the accounting credits.

That auditing class will in no way shape or form prepare you for the real AUD.. hahahahaha lmao.. no way! Sorry to break your bank.

    Not even a little?

Well, I do need the credit so I don't feel too terribly bad.

I used Yeager for FAR. It was OK, but how many times does a person need to be reminded of what page they're on, what paragraph, how far down the page, etc.

When you are finish with the Univ of phx course, then go to CPAreviewforfree.com and see how many questions you know. I might be wrong. It would slightly be tough going into the exam without being able to practice sims as well or at least MCQ that will be involving the types of sims that you will see.

I used Becker, Everyone told me it was the best for AUD. I failed for different reasons, I thought Becker was sufficient. The second time around I did not watch the lectures.. just read the book. Reading helps me more than daydreaming while watching lectures. haha.. that's just me.

    Good Luck 🙂

I know what you mean about daydreaming. I think the most valuable thing with Yaeger was not the lectures but their ability to distill the material down to a critical mass of must-know questions. I suppose Becker is similar in that regard.

I could still drop the course. I mean, I'm probably more qualified to teach the class than the professor, who is not a CPA and works in governmental accounting. I'm a bank internal auditor.

At the risk of sounding cavalier, I think success has more to do with the person than the program. Shopping for review materials is like shopping for motor oil. I'd really like to see some independent research on pass rates.
