Audit Tick Marks?

I’m doing some simulations on the Wiley Test Bank and I’m getting close to getting most of the answers correct, but I’m completely struggling with the ones where they ask you to draw conclusions from the Tick marks. How much emphasis should I put on these? Do you guys have any suggestions on how to tackle these?

    Thanks in Advance.

If the problem does not explicitly state that it foots and crossfoots check the math. Check any titles and check to see if all tickmarks have a description listed. Go through each tickmark and see if you can figure out what is going on before you read the description. Then determine if the description is correct. If you see two of the same tickmarks on a page what do they have in common? Does something need to be reclassed from one account to the other? Check the math on each individual line to make sure it is correct.

I used to get really overwhelmed by this type of question and the key for me was to slow it down and try to figure it out one tickmark at a time. I think that it is worth taking the time to go through to come up with a strategy for how you will solve it so that you dont freak out if you see a problem like this on the exam. I would not worry about the content so much because they could give you a working paper problem on so many different things that it is unlikely that you will see the same content on the exam.
