hey guys, I am taking audit in a few weeks and will be my first cpa test.

How do you use the authoritative literature to your advantage?

I feel like on the research questions, my answer seems right but then there is always something else that is the correct answer. Do you go through the tabs or use the search function?

Also, through anyones past experience with the audit test, how much of it was calculations related? Not that is is too hard of a concept but i’ve somewhat ignored all the ratio related questions and formulas. Should I definitely go back and try master that concept or is my time better suited in other areas?

    Thanks

    Audit- 91 Feb 2014

    FAR- 78 5/14

    BEC- 82 7/14

    REG- 2/15, 70
    retest 4/15

I used quotes when searching the authoritative literature. I was very precise in picking the phrases that I searched for, and I got to the point that 6 of the 7 simulations I was able to find the answer word for word. I would understand what is going on with the ratios. If you know the impact of changing the numerator or denominator to the ratio, you will be good to go. I would not try and memorize all of the ratios.

    F - 79 5/31/13
    R - 68 07/12/13 Retake 88! 10/18/13
    B - 78 08/31/13
    A - 64 01/03/14 Retake 75! 5/23/14 I would rather have a 75 than a 99 any day!

Usually when approaching a research questions you should first use the Search function. Then after your original search you can use the search within function and get a little more specific with your search. After that you should just go throught the search results until you find the answer to the question.

For my audit exam I did not review ratios at all and it did not hurt me as there were none on my exam. Other people have told me that their exam was filled with ratios so if you have the time it cant hurt to review them..

    FAR - 07/29/2013 76
    BEC - 08/30/2013 83
    AUD - 11/11/2013 71 Retake - 05/10/2014 91
    REG - 04/30/2014 37 Retake - 08/25/2014 87

The “advanced search” function is also helpful

Here's how you use the authoritative literature to your advantage for AUD:

The answer to any kind of question that can be asked by the examiners about a report issued by an auditor can most likely be found in the authoritative literature. Keep that in mind when you go into the exam.

    FAR - 7/1/13 - 98
    AUD - 8/31/13 - 94
    BEC - 11/23/13 - 89
    REG - 1/13/14 - 86
