Audit Sims- Is it worth practicing

I will be taking my Audit exam in 15 days. I would like to know how close are beckers sims compared to real exam. From what I have heard in this forum there is nothing that can prepare you for Sims. So is it worth doing Beckers SIMS at this stage or should I spend more time doing MCQ’s?

If you have the time it certainly can't hurt. I didn't practice any sims and passed. Research tab can be very helpful.

    R - 74;88
    A - 84
    B - 74;89
    F - no study = 67; May 15 = 87 & done

Use the sims to become familiar with the research tab. Learn how to utilize it and find something quickly. I wouldn't just blow off the sims because of this reason. Even if you have taken FAR or REG and learned to use the research tab, you should still become familiar with the AUD one. You can also use the sims for extra review. Some of the ones on Becker were the same format as the ones on the actual exam but the material wasn't even close, this is why it is so unpredictable and you have to use the research tab.

    BEC - Feb 2012: 80
    AUD - Feb 2012: 84
    FAR - Apr 2012: 78
    REG - May 2012: 90

    Thanks Becker!

I have only used Becker to study and their research tabs/SIMS are setup very similar to the actual test. If you have time just mess around with the research tab and look for stuff on your own. you can use this tab for any of the 7 SIMS. Also not sure if you have taken any other exam yet but if you have time spend an hour or so (not more) on ratios. Just get a general idea of them, nothing serious.

Form is temporary, class is permanent.

    Audit 4/19/12 - 77
    BEC 5/31/12 - 75
    FAR 8/30/12

Just out of curiosity. The GASB standards aren't part of the authoritative literature, is that right? I feel guilty for not using it for certain sims on the test, but if I couldn't look them up anyway, then that is fine.

i didn't use becker. I used wiley testbank. The formula/setting they used is 80% similar to the exam.

Yes, practice as much as you can. The Sims on the exam are HARD, so it's definitely a good idea to do lots of practice questions.

One more opinion…do the SIMS. I did them all for AUD. And this is why I think they are important – you can do MCQ's all day and obviously they are a big part of the exam. But the SIMS make you slow down and put in a little more effort. I agree that the SIMS in Becker are child's play compared to the actual exam, but I still think that Becker as a whole prepares you for the SIMS on the exam. If you've studied well you will have the knowledge you need to do the SIMS, and don't forget the literature tab!

    AUD 85 (2/22/12)
    FAR 81 (5/10/12)
    BEC 7/13/12
    REG 10/1/12

    using Becker

Another vote for working the sims. I am using ExamMatrix but I found the sims to be helpful in thinking about the information in a different way from the MCQ.

    AUD 4/12/12 79
    FAR 5/29/12 76
    REG 8/2/12 82
    BEC 8/30/12 72 Retake 10/18/12 76!!! DONE!!!!

To all. I would allote only 30 – 35% of the test time to simulations on the exam to make more time for MCQ's. With 70 out of 240 remaining, I was able to review the rules that pertained to each simulation, complete each task, and double-check each task without running out of time.

It depends on your strengths and weaknesses. I do well on Sims and not so well on MCQ's, so I try to take more time on the MCQ's.
