Just looked at my audit score with great anticipation only to see a phat 57 slap me in the face. I was shocked, embarrassed for myself and just down right depressed. I had studied for 2 months and put in over 100 hours worth or study time. I used Becker to study and truly thought I had a strong grasp on the material. I was scoring between 65-90s on all of the multiple choice hw and quiz’s. Im honestly just confused at this point. I thought the test had gone fairly well. MC was straight forward and the SIMS were tough but i thought i did ok on them. I would love to here some advice on how to go at this again. Failing just makes me want to pass more. PLEASE HELP..

Sorry to here that d21. I just did the same thing in audit and only used becker but I passed. I read the book before doing the hw for the second time do you ever go back and just read the book? I found it helps me grasp the material better the second time I look at somethings.

    Reg: 84
    Aud: 84
    Far: 81
    Bec: 83

No more long nights...well due to studying for this test...

You should study everything as if it is your first time. But this time around, pay special attention to the areas where you're getting 60-70s. I read the book twice, did all mcqs twice, and read book/mcqs 3x on particular subjects that was more difficult for me.

    B 2/12 87
    A 11/11 90
    R 8/11 86
    F 5/12 88

    @D21

When I decided to take the CPA exam… I also decided that the first one that I was going to take was AUD. Because during college that was my favorite topic and I remembered almost everything… While studying I was sure that I was going to destroy the test…

I found myself the day of the test asking WTF. I was certain that some questions of my first AUD test were invented the day before by the examiner!!! This was because I didn't remember many calculations of FAR. Since I solicited FAR and AUD in the same NTS; I left AUD aside and studied for FAR and shortly after repeated AUD…

The second time around many of the questions made A LOT more sense, due to the fact that I had FAR fresh. I won't say that was the reason I passed, but I can assure you it helped me.

It doesn't say if this is your first exam… But if it is… Try taking FAR first and then AUD and BEC… I believe this is a good order in taking the tests…

I hope this works… Also I used becker and cpareviewforfree.com.

Many questions from cpareviewforfree.com were very much a like in my AUD exam; I would go even further saying that like 3 or 4 of them were exactly the same question.

    B - 62, 70, 72, 79!!!
    A - 68, 81
    R - 70, 82
    F - 84

D21 I am in the same boat as you. It was my 2nd time taking audit and I have only used Becker. I have been getting 80's on the MCQ's and mid 80's on the final exam practice. For my next go round I am going to invest in the NINJA notes. Good luck next time.

    FAR: Done
    REG: Done
    AUD: Done
    BEC: Done

@D21, @smut_co. Got any seats left in that boat for me? Scored a 63, I was scoring anywhere from 75-90 on Wiley questions after going through Becker and scoring Mid 80's on simulation exams. I went in and came out feeling better than any of my previous 3 failures. So now I am going WTF??????

I think starting Monday I am just going to bury myself in tax season and start studying again April 18. At least I will get paid for the extra hours!

after I failed AUD the second time I bought Jeffs Ninja notes and decided to put 100% faith in all of his suggestions including the ones I thought were wacky like rewriting my notes (puh-leeze, how could THAT help?) because “my way” had let me down twice.

Well wacky suggestions and bazillions of multiple choice questions (yes 850 or so the last weekend alone!) landed me with an 84 and my highest score of all!

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

I got a 56 my first time using only Becker. I didn't put in as much work as I should have but I was still shocked/embarassed of my score. I decided to pass it the second time so after reading a lot of reviews on Yaeger and Roger I decided to try Roger. His teaching style really works for me and actually had me learn the material rather than try to memorize things.

I just got my score today and was thrilled to see it was an 82! When studying the second time around I understood more of the concepts in the way Roger teaches them (I had plenty of “so that's what Tim was talking about when he said….” moments). I understood more what Becker was trying to teach (I failed to understand the material in the way it was taught).

Don't get too discouraged…I always thought Audit would be the easiest because there's no calculations or formulas but for me I think it has been the hardest so far. I have a re-match with Reg in about 3 hours and then it's Super Bowl and Miller Lite time for me!!

    Good luck!

    FAR - 72, 79 (11/30/11)
    AUD - 56, 82 (1/9/12)
    REG - 72, 78, (2/5/12)
    BEC - 77 (4/1/12)

Aww man, this thread is scaring me a little bit, I took AUD yesterday and had Medium, Hard, Hard MCQ groups as far as I could tell. I felt really good about them, and feel just ok about the simulations, some I knew and a few I had to just guess on, but felt generally good about my test. I will be pretty disappointed if I don't get a passing score. Good luck everyone.

    FAR - 67, 85
    AUD - 50, 68, 79 I'm DONE!
    BEC - 81
    REG - 78

What worked for me with Becker:

    – Watch all lectures once

    – Complete all homework once

    – Complete all supplemental questions once

    – Complete both final exams

    – Reread each chapter and study the parts I was not sure on

    – Take five to six 100 problem quizzes

    – Complete all simulations once

    FAR(11/14/11)- 92
    AUD(01/04/12)- 91
    REG(05/30/12)- 93
    BEC(07/21/12)- 88

I went through and outlined all the Becker chapters, re-did all the Becker MC questions and Sims at least twice, and signed up for the Wiley question database and just did 90 question practice exams over and over again. Surprisingly, I think outlining the chapters helped the most. I picked up and retained a lot of things that I missed my first time through. Good luck!

My rundown for audit: 2010 scored a 50 then a 58. Clearly I didn't know the material. Nov 2011 scored a 70. I now know the material but not well enough. January 2012 scored a 72. Guess I still don't quite have a handle on it. Oh well, maybe the fifth time will by my charm.

the first time i took audit was november of 2011 and i used the becker self study materials and ninja study guide. i definitely studied alot and i banged out a ton of the becker MCQ's and went over the chapters that gave me issues. unfortunately i failed that exam with a 74 and i left the exam feeling pretty good.

i retook audit in jan of this year and in order to prepare i bought the final review (ebay) and supplemented the becker questions with the online wiley questions. the second time was a charm and i got an 87 but i certainly feel that the final review and wiley questions really helped in my higher score.

    BEC - 80 11/1/10
    AUD - 74 on 11/30/11. retake 87 1/18/12
    FAR - 79 8/8/11
    REG - 80- 5/9/11

Sorry about the failing score, I was also very confident the first time I took AUD…since there is not as much material in AUD compared to FAR, you really do have to know everything. Also, I cannot stress enough to use the research function for your SIMS…I think that is what got me my passing score this window. Like everyone has suggested, repetition is key! I also recommend supplementing Becker with Cpareviewforfree or with Wiley Test bank (or both)…and yes, definitely re-study as it were your first time taking the exam. Good luck, and don't forget we are here to help if you have questions!

I got a 73 on my first attempt at AUD. I did not put in the time, and was very distracted with personal stuff.

Make sure that you are actually present when you are studying and not distracted. I can be in a room with only my computer and books, and not grasp a single topic. I have to make sure to clear my mind.

I am using Roger CPA review and he is so dynamic. It is not as hard to be attentive in my studies. So make sure that the program you are using is one that fits you.

I have heard the MC are the key to passing. I aim to get at least 80% on the MC before I sit again.

    AUD - Passed
    FAR - Apr
    REG - Feb
    BEC - Feb
