Folks, if anyone can help me out here, I would really appreciate it. This post may be a re-tread, but I am going to do it anyway. I have scored in the 90’s on both REG and BEC, and in the 80’s on FAR. Passed first time, studying for about 3-4 weeks each. But I have taken and bombed AUD while scoring in the low 60’s not once, but twice. And I thought I was much better prepared the second time. Yet people’s scores are the highest for AUD (most in the 90’s). Am I stupid? What is going on here? I have no accounting or audit experience (I am an M&A guy looking for CPA designation), but have used Becker for my studies to date. I just bought Yeager and Wiley (including test banks) for my next attempt in August. Any advice, please? Why is everyone finding AUD so easy, and I am flopping like a dead fish???

If it makes you feel better Audit has become my monster. I've lost my REG and FAR credit because of it. Now I have BEC on the line. I've been in the high 50s to recently high 60s. I'm using Becker along with Yaeger listen n learn and Wiley test bank.

Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....
    AUD - 39, 48, 56, 65, 68, 73, 76!!! (Finally passed in Oct 2011!!!) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    REG - 75 (Lost Credit) 72, 68, 73, 75 (Passed again in Aug 2011) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    FAR - 65, 68, 75 (Lost Credit) 68, 73, 73, 80 (Passed again in May 2012) Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
    BEC - 65, 68, 71, 72, 72, 71, 76 (Lost Credit)- 70, 76!!!! I AM DONE!!! - Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
After 10 long years of studying, I AM DONE!!!! Finally a Licensed CPA in the State of New York!!

JoMarie, I am sorry for your struggles. I hear what you are saying. But no, it doesn't make me feel better to know that you are struggling. I would rather hear that you are doing well, honestly. I wish no evil on anyone. But I do need help here. There is something fundamentally wrong with the way I am grasping the material, or in the way I am taking the test. It's hard to believe I can do so well on the other sections using the same study methods, only to flop and bomb AUD.

AUD doesn't cover as much material as the other exams, but you have to know that material in unbelievable detail. Also, a slight difference in wording can change the answer so you have to read the questions very carefully. Memorize the standard unqualified opinion, the changes to that for the other types of opinions, and the audit standards. Do lots of MCQ. I used Wiley test bank, and it helped me become more aware of how the wording could change the answer. It also helped me learn to identify the “best” test for a given assertion and account. I have no auditing experience so it was tough to learn all this but I did, and I know you can too.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

oh wow post like this makes me appreciate passing even more….. what worked for was doing all the wiley testbank online mcq 4 times (3600mcq) becker passmaster twice (over 1600 mcq) and doing the ones on cpareviewforfree.

I will agree with kb24 one word in a question can change everything. the key to AUD is to know all the concepts, to memorize all the questions at the same time and use human judgement….. after all the questions i seen during studying i saw about 15/20 on the exam worded a lil different but was the same question and i saw abot 2 word for word.

in short i dont know what to say to someone who passed the 3 other exams with 4 weeks of studying. obviously your are smart enough but something else that is specially needed for auditing is missing… for me i simple saw my self as an auditor while studying auditing (i have minimal accounting exp let alone auditing)

As a foreigner without Audit experience, I tested Aud three times, 64, 71 and finally 90.

I used Becker for the two times but change to Wiley and CPAreviewforfree in the third attempt.

Yeah, I agree Audit is a word game, especially for non native speaker, you need to change your mind as an Auditor, I guess they are different people with different common sense.

You will make it, and you don't need to be smart on this. Please note, I travelled from China to Guam just for Audit retaking, it should make you feel better

Thanks you guys. And thanks so much for being civil about it too. So many people doubt that I got high scores on the other sections but bomb AUD. They say that AUD is too easy to bomb, how can I do so well on the harder sections? Well, I am here to say there is no “hard” section in absolute terms. Everything is relative. I thought I knew AUD well enough, but apparently not.

I have taken all of your advice. I bought Yaeger and Gleim Test Bank in addition to the Becker materials I already have. I am going to work it hard over the next month.

If I am going to pass, I am going to have to improve my score from a 63 to 75 at least. That's a 12 point swing. I don't know if I can do that, but I am damn sure going to try. Shoot, I wish someone can just take this one test for me! I don't know how people can find this so easy, and score in the 90's so easily. That's 30 points above me! That's a lot! You guys must be seeing things that I can't see for the life of me!

Oh well, thanks for the advices. I am going to take heed (I already have), and prepare really well this time. I have to pass this, otherwise I lose BEC and I can't have that crap.

Use Gleim Software. 15 days practice enough to pass this exam. One thing for your attention, please do mate notes for the problem u did wrong and understand the testing subject.
