Hello my fellow CPAs to be!

need help deciding if I’m studying the right way. I’m on chapter 2 of becker review for Audit and I’m scoring in the high 80’s and low 90’s on the homeworks. However, the way I do it is I take the MC hw right after the lecture (the chapters are divided in subchapeters and there is HW for each subchapter) The reason why I’m asking is becase I wanna make sure that I’m not falsly confident! I studied this way for FAR and I was getting score in the 60’s, but then again FAR is a lot harder, isn’t it? I failed it by 2 points. ALSO, I’m terrified of the simmulations in audit!! I heard they are terrible! I cannot afford to fail this test as it changes after July 2013 and I’m using the 2012 material as it is… Thanks, guys!

I'd say that's a good sign you're retaining the info that quickly!!! But the true test will be when you go back to a topic after not looking at it for a while 🙂

I'm right here with you waiting for scores! But mine are for my audit retake… We both got 73s though, and it felt just as bad as a 74 would've haha. Good luck!!

Yeah, that happened with me for A1 and A2 of Becker. Read the material. Did the questions. Boom. 75-80% on the HW.

That will most likely go away A3, A4, and part of A5, and return on A6.

@ORcpaHOPEFUL: I think a 74 would have hurt a little more! hahahaha! were the sims really that bad in audit as I've been hearing? did you use the search literature to answer any other questions other than the research question?

@infernoOmni: ouch!! not looking forward! I was hoping the later chapters got more interesting/lessboring/easier….ha!

@dcosoriog: my SIMs weren't bad either time really. They weren't like when I left FAR all three times saying uuuuuh wtf haha. I left the first time feeling decent (got that darn 73 though) and left the second time feeling like I nailed at least the research problem (which was hard but I think I'm just good at those) and felt strongly positive about 4 of them… The other 2 were iffy but still felt decent. I was sooooo glad I had a TON of time to use the authroritative literature!!! I went through all of the SIMs on my own first then went back and researched each SIM one by one- I literally found EXACT word for word answers on at least two of them! Super stoked about that. As long as you get good at navigating the AL and knowing what key words to search and then know how to search within you'll be fine!!! 4 hours is waaaaay too much time for audit I think! But then again I was an auditor for nearly two years so it just made sense to me and I actually enjoyed studying for it haha. Hope to hear you pass FAR so you don't have to go round three (like I did for that darn section!)

Make sure you know how to use the AL for the SIMS. I was able to get answers for 3 or 4 of mine directly from the AL, word for word. NINJA notes also helped me tremendously. I felt like the questions came right off the notes 🙂
