Started studying for Audit today and I have only read 7 pages all day. I am using Becker. It is soooo boring. I cant differentiate one sentence from another..it all seems the same. Please tell me it gets better soon and I will start making sense of it all soon.

Those of you who have done Audit or who are studying for it right now, how did you overcome the dreadfully boring text? I am writing everything down in hopes that might help something sink in. I know accounting is no walk in the park but this is beyond boring. I recently took an audit class in school and that text was def tolerable. Becker Audit- not so much! I am just hoping it will become a bit interesting soon.

Is Audit anything like the class they teach in College? If so, I remember the class being really, really easy.

    FAR - 93
    REG - 87
    BEC - 84!!!!
AUD - 99!!!!!! CPA exam complete.

Ummm I would not say its easy like what you see in college.

The main thing for me that helped was if you understand the first chapters and the reviewer builds upon it as you go along the course material – it just makes sense and you know your concepts well.

So I have doing Audit exams before from Canada and UK – never had a problem with it. US CPA was a headache as when I used Becker it didn't help me see how the flow was. Plus Tim G was all about highlighting so I have to say he put me off to sleep.

Once I moved to Rogers it made so much sense plus I have worked as an Auditor and thought I know this stuff. He did so many examples where you could relate that material too. So that also helped in understanding that material. Plus he crazy jokes was a good recall for me in the exam.

Granted in the UK/Canada the Statements and Audit reports are not the same format but the concept/goal was the same as what happens in the USA.

Mainly in terms of the exam – my downfall is the SIM's I do not know why but I seem to get anxiety attacks as soon as I hit the SIM's section. In the MCQ's I got strong for all BEC. AUD and REG. For the SIM I have gotten weak almost every single time except BEC – I was comparable.

@ Kenada Will I be good with just Wiley? I have not used the lectures, or videos yet, so I've been able to get by with just the Wiley book and test bank.

My plan is to try and use Wiley for everything because it's the cheapest option available.

    FAR - 93
    REG - 87
    BEC - 84!!!!
AUD - 99!!!!!! CPA exam complete.

Yes you will be fine with Wiley – The material is very dry so be prepared to be bored out of your mind unless you that student that has a great stamina to just read and be very focused.

I am not like that I have to interact. I need some humor to keep me going etc.

The Wiley SIM's and MCq's were on the money for me for AUD. I did find Gleims' SIM gave me an extra boast that finally helped me pass. I got Comparable in my final AUD exam Yeppy.

Having studied with you I don't see you having issues with the SIM's – Wiley on its own is more than adequate to study from and pass AUD

I would think it's pretty close to what you learn in college, not as easy but the same material. Unlike FAR which covers like 5 different classes, and REG which includes much more than the individual taxation you learn in college (so much new material), BEC I don't even know what it covers, but like AUD is pretty straight forward.

    FAR - 71, 68, 74, (8/31/14) 78 ✔
    REG - 67, 71, 71, (10/18/14) 78 ✔
    BEC - (11/29/14) 86 ✔
    AUD - 73, (4/4/15) 86 ✔

I can't believe this is over! 2 years and 3 months..

@ Kenada ya I remember his TT BPO 75 and 90. That actually helped me on my Intermediate 2 class 🙂 Roger is def a riot. He used to come to a lot of our events in school. However I am stuck with Becker since my firm pays for it.

@ CPAsoon…lol yup Audit is so dry that it made me appreciate Reg. Never thought I'd say that.

So am going to listen to the lectures, read, write notes, go over flash cards and then do mcqs.

How many of you used Ninja Audio for Audit? Worth the investment for Audit?

    FAR - 93
    REG - 87
    BEC - 84!!!!
AUD - 99!!!!!! CPA exam complete.
