    Hi Everyone!

This is my first post, but I have been looking at the forum for about 2 years. Sorry in advance, but this is going to be long.

I started taking the exam in 2010, before the big change to the exam was to take place. I took BEC and FAR since these were suppose to change the most. I was sooo surprised that I passed both. Then I took Reg and Audit in the summer. I failed both. Two or 3 weeks before Reg I moved. Then 2 weeks before Audit I hurt myself and was on pain killers when I was taking my exam. So I was kind of ok with it, or at least I understood why I didn’t pass.

Next I took Audit again since I had just studied for it and it would be the most fresh in my head. Well I didn’t pass again but I improved by 20 points. I guess not being on pain killers helped a lot and I was more clear headed. But I still wasn’t happy that I didn’t pass.

Then I took Reg again. I got a dog on Christmas Eve, which we picked up 6 hours both ways from our house. I took the exam on 1/13. Not the best thing to study with new puppy who is soooo cute. Well I got a 70 which improved by 1 point from the last time.

2/24/12 took Audit again. No pass 65. 1 point increase again. And I’m getting frustrated and discouraged :(. Loss credit for BEC 2/29/12

April 26th after 1st tax season working full time took Reg. I thought it would be good to take it after doing so many tax returns. Well I got a 70 again. Ok so maybe I should have waited and took it the end of May but I had already lost 1 credit I didn’t want to loss another 1. So I was also planning on taking audit again at the end of May, but then I realized I needed to pass Reg, Audit, and BEC before May 30th to keep that credit that I was going to loss for FAR. SO I decided to push it back to July 2nd. Then I would have more time to study. July 2nd Audit again no passing. I’m really frustrated at this point. So I waited until I got my score, then I was going to make a plan. Also I got really busy at work with the 2 audit people leaving my small firm. So I got to pick up everything they would have been doing. I decided I would take Auditing in Oct. I have been doing a lot of auditing so should really be able to understand the material and get it passed. Well I got a 64.

After that I was really considering taking it again in Jan, but after talking with my husband and a few other people, I decided to take the holidays off and also tax season off. We were able to make a nice and quiet office for me in that time. It gave me time to look at what I was doing wrong and how to change it. Well having a quiet place to study seemed to help but not quite enough. I took audit again May 23rd and got a 73. So I was feeling better about it and thought I could do it. I continued to study for audit and took it again July 25th, hoping this time was the time. Well 1 more time it was a no go. I got a 64. Seeing that on Friday just made my heart sink so much. I started crying as soon as I saw it. I thought for sure I had gotten it this time. It seemed like the 2 and 3 testlets got harder and I know that theory that if it gets harder you are probably doing well.

So right now I don’t know where to go with Audit. I am thinking I will switch to some other study material other than Becker. I am also thinking of getting a tutor. Any suggestions. Help!!! I’m out of ideas.

Also I am taking Reg again on Oct 2nd, but I want to take Audit Nov 27th. So any help with that would be helpful too.

Thank for listening and I promise to not be as long winded next time!

Hey @ svwCPA72 I can completely empathize with you about the feeling of not passing AUD.It was my second attempt this july end and I missed it again by a small margin of 2-3 points. My main problem area is Sim I really don't know really how to improve in that area.

I used Wiley Test bank for my second attempt,it helped me with some additional MCQ as by this time had memorized most of the becker MCQ's

I would like to ask you, How is Ninja Notes for Audit??

Even I am considering to switch review course. But I was thinking either Ninja Notes or a Cram Lecture(Yaeger or Roger).

I dont know what option to go for.

As of now I am preparing for BEC and then Audit in November.

FAR- 79 -->Becker self study, Final review & Flashcards
REG -72-->Becker ,76-->Becker plus Wiley test bank
    AUD- 73 Becker,72-->Becker+Wiley,69-->Added ninja notes,89 --> Added Gleim review
BEC- 84 Becker plus Wiley Test bank

    I am Done !!!!

    I hate audit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That being said, I'm with Little#CPA that going through the Audit Wiley textbook will do you a world of good. I went from a 68 to 92 on Audit by going through the entire Wiley text book (taking notes, doing all MCQs/SIMS), listening to Ninja Audio in my car, and Ninja note recopying @ 10 pages per day. The Wiley text is dry and terrible but it will make you exam ready! Also if you pick up the Yeager Cram, you will need the Wiley text anyways.

    REG: 75 DONE πŸ™‚
    AUD: 61, 71, 68, 92 DONE πŸ™‚
    BEC: 76 DONE πŸ™‚
    FAR: 72, 74, 79 DONE πŸ™‚

Since this post is related to Audit Beast..

Does anyone know that do Cram courses teach the concepts in detail or does it cover only the important parts of the exam. Coz thats what NOT i am looking for ,as I have Becker Final review are they similar to those?

My main problem is Tackling Simulations especially those which are conceptual.

Like Inherent risk increase/decrease or questions related to what should be done in a particular situation.Till the time I am doing MCQ I am good at answering them. But as soon it comes in Simulations I get rattled down πŸ™ After looking into so many options may be I get confused.

People who successfully smashed Audit down.. Any suggestions on how did you guys tackle Sims??

Hi, I attempted audit in feb and ended up with a 72. Then I attempted it in may and thank God passed it with an 83. What I did different: 1. make notes of all chapters. 2. Mix beckers review with wiley test bank. 3. Some mcq's in beckers are really helpful and in explanation it tells in details certain points which are not present in review so I strengthened my notes by adding points/ topics to them. 4. Some of the topics covered in simms are actually related to FAR like adjusting entries so its better to practice them a little bit and also some definition related to FAR like FOB shipping point, FOB destination etc. u need to know what is their accounting treatment. 5. It is very important to remember each and every thing from audit independence because its covered in a gr8 detail, not only in mcq's but also sumtimes simms as well. 6. Have a very clear concept of difference between inheret, control and audit risk and also some examples of them. 7. have a good grip on how to research simms. 8. lastly work hard and pray even harder….Good Luck!

littlenumberrobot – thanks for the suggestion. I am leaning towards Yaeger and Wiley because so many on here have used it and have said it is great.

nishvik – Ninja notes I feel were a good summary of Becker. I am not a good notes taker so I feel like the Ninja notes were a good summary of Becker and what I would have wanted the notes I took to be like. For you I would suggest getting ninja notes and maybe get different study material, if you can afford it. I also have trouble with the Sim. I haven't been studying for them really, other than once or twice. I felt like if I knew the concepts I should be ok on them. Do you go through the sim in Becker's program?

MintsRGood – Thanks I will take that to heart. When you were copying the Ninja notes did you type them or actually write them on paper? When I copied them I typed them. So I'm not sure if that made a difference or note. What would you suggest?

n.ACMA – I actually had a sim this last time that had the entries with FOB shipping point and destination. I thought I get the concept of them correct, but I wasn't 100% sure coming out if I did the right entry for them or not. I thought since it was more of a FAR related sim that it was probably a throw out question, but I could be wrong.

Thanks Everyone. Your help is going to help me past it in Nov.

I am in the same boat, as many here seem to be πŸ™‚

I started the exams in summer 2010 and passed BEC and FAR on the first try. After finally passing REG on the fourth try, I missed AUD by 1 point and lost the credits for the first two sections! After an unsuccessful try (74), I passed BEC again πŸ™‚

but am struggling to recapture my earlier success in FAR and have yet to pass AUD πŸ™

I used Becker up until now but am looking at other review material (the same old Qs can only get you so far). Have heard great things about the NINJA Notes and WTB (the Audio and Flashcards are not very effective with my learning style).

I am registering for another round with FAR and AUD and I am hoping that I pass everything before my REG credit expires in the new year.

Good Luck and here's to passing in the Oct/Nov window!!!

    3XBEC:75 * 4XREG:82 * 4XFAR:76 * 7XAUD:77

Yes, you CAN pass! You've already shown that by passing two exams. Take a deep breath, clear your mind and focus on the topics one at a time. Read NINJA notes every night and write fact nuggets all over them.

    You got this!!!

Yes you can pass this!! I did this exam 5 times and finally passed on the 5th attempt.

All i did was follow the Ninja method. it worked !!!! Put in the down time and effort of making your notes and doodle the reason why you go the MCQs wrong. Understand the concepts and you will pass. Practice the SIM's that you are weak in as well. A bit of SIM practice goes a long way in AUD.
