Hi Everyone!
This is my first post, but I have been looking at the forum for about 2 years. Sorry in advance, but this is going to be long.
I started taking the exam in 2010, before the big change to the exam was to take place. I took BEC and FAR since these were suppose to change the most. I was sooo surprised that I passed both. Then I took Reg and Audit in the summer. I failed both. Two or 3 weeks before Reg I moved. Then 2 weeks before Audit I hurt myself and was on pain killers when I was taking my exam. So I was kind of ok with it, or at least I understood why I didn’t pass.
Next I took Audit again since I had just studied for it and it would be the most fresh in my head. Well I didn’t pass again but I improved by 20 points. I guess not being on pain killers helped a lot and I was more clear headed. But I still wasn’t happy that I didn’t pass.
Then I took Reg again. I got a dog on Christmas Eve, which we picked up 6 hours both ways from our house. I took the exam on 1/13. Not the best thing to study with new puppy who is soooo cute. Well I got a 70 which improved by 1 point from the last time.
2/24/12 took Audit again. No pass 65. 1 point increase again. And I’m getting frustrated and discouraged :(. Loss credit for BEC 2/29/12
April 26th after 1st tax season working full time took Reg. I thought it would be good to take it after doing so many tax returns. Well I got a 70 again. Ok so maybe I should have waited and took it the end of May but I had already lost 1 credit I didn’t want to loss another 1. So I was also planning on taking audit again at the end of May, but then I realized I needed to pass Reg, Audit, and BEC before May 30th to keep that credit that I was going to loss for FAR. SO I decided to push it back to July 2nd. Then I would have more time to study. July 2nd Audit again no passing. I’m really frustrated at this point. So I waited until I got my score, then I was going to make a plan. Also I got really busy at work with the 2 audit people leaving my small firm. So I got to pick up everything they would have been doing. I decided I would take Auditing in Oct. I have been doing a lot of auditing so should really be able to understand the material and get it passed. Well I got a 64.
After that I was really considering taking it again in Jan, but after talking with my husband and a few other people, I decided to take the holidays off and also tax season off. We were able to make a nice and quiet office for me in that time. It gave me time to look at what I was doing wrong and how to change it. Well having a quiet place to study seemed to help but not quite enough. I took audit again May 23rd and got a 73. So I was feeling better about it and thought I could do it. I continued to study for audit and took it again July 25th, hoping this time was the time. Well 1 more time it was a no go. I got a 64. Seeing that on Friday just made my heart sink so much. I started crying as soon as I saw it. I thought for sure I had gotten it this time. It seemed like the 2 and 3 testlets got harder and I know that theory that if it gets harder you are probably doing well.
So right now I don’t know where to go with Audit. I am thinking I will switch to some other study material other than Becker. I am also thinking of getting a tutor. Any suggestions. Help!!! I’m out of ideas.
Also I am taking Reg again on Oct 2nd, but I want to take Audit Nov 27th. So any help with that would be helpful too.
Thank for listening and I promise to not be as long winded next time!
