Considering the recent spike of Audit wrath on the forum, I felt it necessary to make a thread devoted entirely to how much we all hate the auditing section of this exam! While I found a few hilarious threads about the BEC Haters Club, I found no such outlet for Audit and found that to be unacceptable. If you would rather stick your hand down the kitchen sink and hit the disposal, drink milk 8 weeks past the expiration date, or blow dry your hair in the bathtub rather than ever sit for auditing again in your life…welcome home. 🙂

I loathe audit because in audit land it’s perfectly acceptable to be WRONG…ahem, excuse me…misstated. Mind you it’s acceptable for an account can be wrong/misstated, just as long as it’s not “materially misstated” aka “more wrong than a misstated balance which in reality is a wrong number to begin with”. Seriously??? Come on, man. No wonder Audit has the lowest pass rate of all the sections right now!!! In tax land there is no concept of “materiality” and that’s how I like it! Please give me the internal revenue code any day with it’s 1,000,000 rules, regulations, procedures, and guidelines to follow because I like to color in the lines. I like things to be right or wrong, period. No subjectivity in my numbers, please and thank you!!! God bless the Internal Revenue Code!!!!

Now it’s your turn! Why do you hate audit???

@CPAhereIam When you watch Candyman again you'll giggle at your post! Helen most certainly didn't end up on a sunny beach at the end of the movie and that quote will make way more sense!!! 😉 For those of you want the cliff notes version: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candyman_(film)

@Future Where did you hear that the majority of exam takers are auditors? I also know my fair share of auditors who've failed the auditing section as many times as I have…which further proves my point that this section is evil! 😉

My best tip for your upcoming exam is to RTMFQ 2-3 times before you look at the answer choices!!!!

@ mints I agree to RTMFQ but if you read 2-3 times wont it take lot of time ?How should i follow this habit while studying?

I got my score report and I was weaker in 2 sections , I thought i did fairly well

    On MCQ.

I wanted to save time foe SIMS hence I did mcq each testlet in 45 mins. I really dont understand how will I tackle Audit ?

I cant sleep at night because I worry about passing Audit. I know this is not the attitude but I will work hard.

    Good Luck to all

FAR- 79 -->Becker self study, Final review & Flashcards
REG -72-->Becker ,76-->Becker plus Wiley test bank
    AUD- 73 Becker,72-->Becker+Wiley,69-->Added ninja notes,89 --> Added Gleim review
BEC- 84 Becker plus Wiley Test bank

    I am Done !!!!

@mints Simply because its pretty much a necessity for an Audit Staff to have the CPA accreditation to advance in the field. Its not as important for a tax professional unless they want to be a partner. Plus, for every tax staff, there are about 3 or 4 audit staff. That's just a general observation. This is why I believe people do much better on REG than they think they do and much worse on AUD than they expect. Just a theory of mine that I've been throwing around on this site for a few months now.

I took audit 3x and my score hasn't improved any lol… going in for my 4th attempt Q1. Comparable in MC, weaker in Sims. I have no clue how to approach it this go-round…

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)

@mtaylo24 sims are mostly related to FAR. AUD study materials don't explain, for example, JE or accounting for equity investments. I believe it's much easier to pass after taking FAR.

@zombiecpa the sim situation you mentioned, I had for my third attempt for audit which is why I guess I could not pass audit.

I have passed FAR but that is one year before. So I was stumbled upon looking at such sim. I can make journal entries but the situation that is being given in Sims , confuses the heck out of

me and I make educated guesses. I can solve Becker sims for journal entries.

For my prior 2 attempts for audit I dint have such sims at all. Yet I have always scored weak in sims and Stronger/ comparable in MCQ.

I am looking for ways I can solve sims for Audit. No review course can teach that.

For both FAR and AUD sims I left 2,5 hours. I would solve them all, sometimes I knew I was wrong, and then I would read them again, I changed my answers at least three times, every time I read those sims I would find something new, I think I spotted a few tricky sentences in those sims, but it took me a while (3rd or 5th attempt to read/solve those sims).

Both exams I scored comparable on mcqs, I didn't come back to read mcqs, I simply hated the idea and I can't recall most of my mcqs. But while studying I mostly focused on mcqs, so on an exam day 80% far and 70% aud mcqs looked familiar.

So read those sims till you feel sick, put your analytical skills to work! I came with a solution for one of my far sims next morning after exam.

    FAR 85
    AUD 83
    BEC 76
    REG 90
