Considering the recent spike of Audit wrath on the forum, I felt it necessary to make a thread devoted entirely to how much we all hate the auditing section of this exam! While I found a few hilarious threads about the BEC Haters Club, I found no such outlet for Audit and found that to be unacceptable. If you would rather stick your hand down the kitchen sink and hit the disposal, drink milk 8 weeks past the expiration date, or blow dry your hair in the bathtub rather than ever sit for auditing again in your life…welcome home. 🙂

I loathe audit because in audit land it’s perfectly acceptable to be WRONG…ahem, excuse me…misstated. Mind you it’s acceptable for an account can be wrong/misstated, just as long as it’s not “materially misstated” aka “more wrong than a misstated balance which in reality is a wrong number to begin with”. Seriously??? Come on, man. No wonder Audit has the lowest pass rate of all the sections right now!!! In tax land there is no concept of “materiality” and that’s how I like it! Please give me the internal revenue code any day with it’s 1,000,000 rules, regulations, procedures, and guidelines to follow because I like to color in the lines. I like things to be right or wrong, period. No subjectivity in my numbers, please and thank you!!! God bless the Internal Revenue Code!!!!

As a fellow AUD hater who is sitting for a 7th (and hopefully last) attempt next month, I agree with the sentiments on this thread.

I studied my butt off and still no success 🙁

THIS section is what is standing between me and finally being done with this part of the CPA journey!

We will finally slay this beast come January! Stay strong my fellow NINJAS!!!

I didn't hate it, but AUD was the scariest section for me since I have zero experience in audit. But I'm glad I read this thread because now I know there are others who enjoyed studying REG!

I hate Audit so much, after receiving my score yesterday, I wasted no time yesterday throwing my Audit book in the trash. Audit is like roller coasters on crack……Not sure if you should be enjoying yourself, or kill yourself cause of being in a state of complete misery.

Usually if I second guess myself, the first answer (first instinct) was right on the WTB and other practice Qs. Will that not translate on the actual AUD exam (Has for other sections)?

Can I just say, I think the main issue with Audit is that people who know the material well are still going to end up failing. Its because the majority of exam takers are Auditors. If you really think about it, you could be getting weaker on SIMs and MCQs but its only in comparison to the other 70% of Audit professionals you are up against. So don't get discouraged if you fail Audit. I, too, am expecting to have trouble with my upcoming Audit exam. I mean, 46% pass rates…crazy! Plus all these stories of people walking out thinking they nailed it…only to see high 60s or low 70s on score release day. My goal is to just stay confident and keep remembering its just a test and not my life.
