    Hi Everyone,

    I am currently scheduled to take audit on 8/20 and I am trying to decide how I should review during the next 12 days. I have gone through all the Becker lectures and worked all the homework problems. My scores on the homework problems have been anywhere from in the 50s to 90s. I have no audit experience and this section has been extremely difficult to study. There have been times that I have watched lectures or read the material and retained none of the information. I feel like I know the basics of the material, but I don’t have a great understanding which would allow me to answer any curve ball type questions. Would it be more effective for me to do all the MCQs again or should I go back and spend more time re reading the material? When I took FAR I focused more on re reading the material instead of reworking the MCQs and this worked good for me. However, I feel less confident with Audit then I did for FAR and I really need to figure out the best approach for these next two weeks. Also, can anyone give me suggestions on what I should focus on during my review?

    On a side note, does anyone ever feel like they want to punch Tim Gearty in the face? I especially get annoyed with the videos where he tries to sell other Becker material. The upsetting thing is that we have already paid $3,000 for this material and he has the nerve to try and push more product on us. I also hate in these videos that he wears a suit jacket that is way to big on him. I mean the guy must make a decent living and your trying to tell me he can’t afford a tailored suit? He looks like a kid who is playing dress up with his dad’s coat. He reminds me of a used car salesman.

    I too am in my final review stage…I'm taking the exam on the 18th. Right now I'm spending 2 days on every chapter (on A2 now). Here's what I've been doing:

    1. Scan the chapter

    2. Review flashcards (make some for the mnemonics and international differences)

    3. Progress tests until I get sick

    4. SIMS from that chapter

    5. More progress tests

    6. Look over the chapter for anything that might be hazy

    When it gets closer to exam day I'll do the practice exams and touch-up on areas that I didn't do so well on.

    As for Gearty he's simply doing his job. Used car salesman tactics or not everybody knows that Becker's been around long enough to prove that they can get the job done.

    And yes, I've also noticed the oversized jacket. I use it as motivation–once I pass this exam I'll make it a priority to NOT look like him 🙂

    FAR -> 76
    AUD -> 74...Revenge 2/16/13
    REG -> 83
    BEC -> 75

    If you're using Becker, I think it's most beneficial to do the MCQ's again. There are only so many ways they can ask a lot of these questions, and Becker has so many questions that it covers absolutely everything. I'd say read the text again for areas that you're weak on, but really focus on MCQ's. The simulations on A4 are worth doing again as well.

    Rereading just for the sake of rereading is not very helpful. It's very unlikely you'll retain most of it. Sure, reread on the areas you're specifically weak on, but don't just reread whole chapters or anything.

    Thank you both for your feedback. I'm going to plan on pounding out MCQs instead of re reading the material. Should I spend a lot of time on Governmental auditing?

    My comments about Gearty were purely out of frustration. I felt like I wasted a lot of my study time by watching the audit lectures. They basically consisted of him telling the user what to highlight and not giving any insight or examples of the material.

    CPATerminator thanks for the recommendation.

    I am really confused with Governmental Auditing and I was hoping someone could recommend some good reading material to supplement Becker.
