I just want to get a feel for how people have done and what everyone elses experience with Audit this window has been. I’ve been on these forums for a while but have been reluctant to post anything because I’ve always read posts but havent posted anything and I’m a bit superstitious. I’ve passed all but audit so far, and failed audit once and just retook audit this past weekend. The first time I took audit I thought I passed for sure. I breezed through it and I felt extremely confident. Got the score back, and didn’t even come close. Well this time I took more of a slow approach. I basically reread every question and took my time. I felt good going through the MCQ’s but didn’t feel as if the questions were getting any harder and they definitely weren’t getting longer so I feel like I might not have done as well. A lot of people say “Oh well you might have just known the material better” but after reading most posts on here, when ppl say that they didn’t notice questions getting harder or longer – they usually follow up with a not passing score. Anyways, assuming maybe my mult choice was good, I probably got the hardest set of simulations in the world. If I went back to Becker and Wiley and reread every page and did every practice question, I still wouldnt know the answer to two of the simulations. Also, my research question which I was banking on being easy was difficult too. Maybe it was just the wording or maybe I was just thinking too much about it but either way I dont think I did well on the simulations.

Sorry for the long post but post up your comments and thoughts.

Let it all out man (or woman or gender neutral individual)….. it's food for the soul!

You know what they say, “If you get higher than a 75, it means you studied too hard!”

    Good Luck!

Your experience sounds a lot like mine.

I didn’t noticed the questions getting any harder in any specific way. Maybe more a bit more wordier but not any more difficult. I did notice that I didn’t have any of the ‘good grief that’s easy’ questions on the second and third sections. Having said that, I read both the CPAExcel and WILEY books and took detailed notes on the Wiley that I retyped and then made note cards out of. I also did the Wiley questions twice each, some more. I also did every single question on the CPAExcel website for auditing, most twice. When doing the exam, the MCQ’s just felt familiar….no harder. But when going through the Wiley/CPAExcel, I never made the distinction between easy and hard questions….they were just questions. So I can’t say I am really a good judge. When you see the question and go “I know the answer to that one” then you don’t really consider easy/medium/hard.

As for the sims, let’s see….

I am all but certain I got the research question correct.

Two, it depends on how it’s graded but I made 80%+ on those.

One, I made an 85% on.

One, no idea but I don’t think I did really well on it..but may have picked up some points.

Two, I have no idea. They were drill down questions on the same topic but to the Nth degree when neither Wiley or CPAExcel covered these topics anywhere near that deep. These were items that were definitions in CPAExcel and Wiley that became almost case study levels.

We’ll find out. Grading is so uncertain on these exams, I don’t have any clue what doing really well on four of the 7 will do to my scores…I also don’t know which one will be thrown out. Hopefully one of the last two.

@imaaxn your experiences with AUD sound very similar to mine. The first time I took AUD, I was so confident that I honestly expected a socre in the 90's, breezed through the MCQs and even thought the SIMS were pretty basic…well to my surprise, I failed, not horribly, but still failed. I took AUD a week ago and while I didn't exactly notice the MCQs getting longer between testlets, I noticed a slight increase in wordiness of the questions (still not difficult, but the questions just became much more vague and subject to more than one interpretation if you didn't know the topics well).

The SIMS… I swear I could've studied 3 months longer and still not know 2 of them, the questions required you to read very detailed scenarios that required you to apply VERY specific rules…luckily I was able to find some of the answers on the research function…and even then, I still very iffy on them. I think what makes AUD so difficult compared to other sections is definitely NOT the volume or difficulty of its content (a lot of it is memorization and concepts tend to repeat themselves), it's the fact that the SIMS alone can either make you or break you. I hope everyone who took AUD this window passes.
