    Hey guys/girls,

Lurked this site for a bit last summer when I took FAR and BEC. I just took audit for the 3rd time and failed miserably. The first time I took it I didn’t prep properly and expected it. Second time I studied a decent amount, and the third (this past testing window) I failed worse than my second. I’m studying with Becker and so far I think Olinto can suck a fat one. Could anyone recommend any gems on this site that really helped them pass AUD & REG? I really appreciate any help.

Just took AUD so don't know if I passed it but did pass REG. I use Roger CPA review. And although Roger himself is a bit annoying I do remember the stuff from his lectures. He gives enough examples that come test time I can relate questions to that and muddle my way through.

Also for REG and AUD both don't by shy about using the literature. I got lucky and got fair sims on all my tests so far but really didn't prepare as much as I should have for REG. The literature enabled me to complete all the sims and I'm sure is how I passed.

For AUD I had one sim which I found extremely difficult but magically found a section in the literature which really explained the concept well and saved my a$$. For AUD you should have a ton of time to really check and double check your work.

Personally I think it all depends on your learning style. I've had good experience with Becker for all three sections I've taken so far. It is really good on focusing on what is important for the exam, but you really need to become familiar with everything they throw at you.

When it comes to AUD, I agree with Sandra. The Sims can make or break you in that section, and people tend to forget that you can use the literature for all of the Sims, not just the research question. Using the literature on the Sims saved me in both FAR and AUD.

    BEC - 90 PASSED
    FAR - 84 PASSED
    AUD - 93 PASSED
    REG - 84 PASSED

    I DID IT!!!!

    Using Becker Self-Study

I like Becker as well. I think all review courses are great if you do quality studying, not just listen to the lectures or read the textbook while having dinner… If you study hard any review course should be fine. Supplement your sudy with NINJA Notes – I think Jeff nicely narrows down the main points you need to know before you sit for exam. I don't even do my own notes – I look over Jeff's 🙂

    FAR 7/10/2012 - 93
    AUD 08/28/2012 - 93
    REG 10/16/2012 - 93
    BEC 11/26/2012 - 88
    ETHICS 12/01/2012 - 93

I agree with everything said about the authoritative literature and believe it was key in both of my exams so far. If you are not using the literature for all sims it might be the missing piece for you. Good luck.

@another6969 – I prefer to take the unconventional approach, which is few mcqs and lots of reading and reviewing. I actually only do about 25-30 questions (only once) per section, and that's pretty much just to gauge where I stand with the material.

A lot of people prefer to use mcqs as a learning tool and that works well for them. To each his/her own. If you tried that and you're kinda stuck, focus more on learning of the CSOs. Also, stick with a chapter/CSO and don't switch chapters until you really understand it. Before you know, you'll be there.

Also, Jeff sells Ninja notes that seem to have helped a lot of people, so maybe get those and focus on them!

Most important: Use your prior test taking knowledge about the exam(s). You now know what the exam looks like, the question types, etc.., which is a valuable asset.
