SnoBoarder328MemberWhy does everything in audit seem like common sense?… I don’t know if thats a bad thing. Is it really that easy?

katieeCPAMemberAre you an auditor? If so, then it does come easier to us than to others. It's really challenging for a lot of people because it's not black and white – the exam questions can be difficult to decipher – there's a lot of “best answers” and it's sometimes difficult to determine what the right one is. Best of luck to you!

SnoBoarder328MemberIve been an auditor for a total of two weeks lol so I'm not sure if that is helping yet. I don't know what it is. I felt like the exams I have taken, FAR and BEC were all completely new material and I really had to learn it over and over. For audit it seems like one time through is enough for it to make sense.. Good luck to you both! I hope I am not shocked after I actually take it.

Jennifer241MemberWait until you get through Internal Control and audit sampling. Then come back and let us know 🙂
I have been an auditor for 10+ years, and studying audit was not a walk in the park… even for me.

tough_kittyMemberDepends on the MCQs…some have VERY ridiculous answer choices, so it's easy to answer using the elimination process, but some can be really confusing EVEN if I understand what they are asking (e.g. tracing for existence, etc.). Some of internal control questions can be tricky as well! I got 80% on 200 MCQs that I did with WTB but if I get those types of questions that I missed on the exam, then I will be in trouble!

Iron_VictoryMemberI'm unsure of what you mean by “common sense”.
There are plenty of MCQ on AUD that are designed to throw you off course with wording to gauge your knowledge of the topics.
I find that the CPA exam is far from “common sense” as it covers advanced and very specified subject matter that in the normal course of life and education you wouldn't learn.
AUD - (74),78
BEC - 85
FAR - 86

nbad311MemberI agree that it has a ton of common sense in it. It can be tricky because it seems like all the language/terminology in the audit exam it what is foreign…meddling through double negatives verbiage makes me rage. A simple “this is risky/bad” “this is ok/good” would have sufficied in many audit sections! None of this if materiality decreases than this increases, blah blah blah.
That being said, I personally know two people, BOTH auditors, BOTH acknowledged as being basically super nerds (I say that in a friendly way – very smart people), who passed all exams on their first tries except for audit, which they both failed once before passing. haha. So no. It's NOT really that easy.
REG - 65, 70, 80!
BEC - 35, 62, 79!
AUD - 73, 75!
FAR - 65, 73, 70, 75! DONE. -
