i have to agree with whitesoxfancpa. i just took AUD on 4/30/10 and the MC/SIMS were definitely harder than Becker. IMO, doing all of the becker questions at least once or twice or more (depending on your memory) is sufficient to cover enough of the MC to pass. i had about 3-10 questions on each testlet that I was unsure about, mostly because those questions i had never seen or were topics of things i didnt dive into deep enough into.
my study approach: maybe not ideal or recommended, but mine nonetheless
Becker:
1. attend the classes (attended all without starting the HW out of laziness)
2. go through each chapter while transfering important points to 3×5 flashcards
3. go through all of the MC questions (not including suppl questions) once while taking notes on 3×5 flashcards
4. go back through and finish the suppl questions while taking notes on 3×5 flashcards
5. go back through and finish the MC i got wrong on the first try, then redo the suppl questions i got wrong on the first try
6. read all 3×5 flashcards each day for 2 weeks leading up to the exam
7. read solutions of the becker SIMS (optional)
8. if time permits, go back through the MC and suppl questions a second time or more if needed (i personally never did them more than twice as i started to memorize the answers by then)
for the best results, going over all of the practice finals and other questions provided is advisable. i just ran out of time.
for BEC, i just did strictly becker questions and zero book time=79
for REG 1st try, i just did strictly becker questions and zero book time=72
for REG 2nd try, i used the above method=84
for FAR, i used the above method=87
for AUD, i used the above method=WAITING and it sucks
so what does this all mean? if you use beckers homework MC (including suppl) only, i think that gets you about 70-80 percent of the material and about an equivalent score. if you study the book/simulations/practice finals and other stuff to fill in some topics the homework solution explanations left out, another 10 to 20 points. my advice, is to study the questions with a majority of your time, using the explanations as a guide to studying the material and even what to study. then fill in the gaps with additional studying of either the book or addition questions either provided by becker or other source. between these two, you should have enough of exposure to the material to pass.
i think reading the note cards religiously leading up to the test is a must though.
