I cannot wrap my head around this section. I’ve gone through the chapter twice and it seems to make sense when I read it, but when I do the MCQ’s I’m guessing on almost every question. I’m scoring WAY WAY lower than I did on every major topic from FAR and REG. I read the questions and all the reports, forms, documents, confirmations, reconciliations, etc. all get jumbled in my head. I don’t understand half the explanations.

If anyone has any advice on how to grasp transaction cycles I will love you forever!

Try drawing some diagrams with arrows. Transaction cycles was my most hated section as well.

The answer is never obvious to me so I read through each answer very carefully, causing me to rationalize them all and end up having to guess.

Gobias,

Did you try to go through the Chapter and take your own notes? I know you read twice but sometimes writing things as you're reading them helps.

Divide the chapter into your own meaningful sections, for example definitions, procedures, documentation, evaluating findings, etc? See what you don't understand vs. what you're getting wrong because of getting frustrated with it. I tried to get a grasp on all sections other than the “audit procedures by transaction cycles” section in Becker (meaning Ch.4) and redid that one last.

Thanks for your advice Tina. I did go through and write out the diagrams like you suggested and I think it helped a bit.

I would try writing notes, but my test is coming up next week so I simply don't have the time to.

I'm totally shocked at how much harder I'm finding this topic to be compared to any from FAR and REG. I feel completely hopeless, so I think I might just go through all the other chapters again to make sure I know them and then spend whatever time remains on cycles. What sticks sticks and I'll just have to hope I'm strong enough in the other areas to pass.
