Hello everyone, just I’d post about my AUD experience today. I hate to feel overly confident, but I think I totally nailed it. I would say that almost every single MCQ I had seen before in Becker…some even word for word! I finished the 3 testlests in about an hour and 15 minutes. I didn’t really notice the questions getting any harder as went on with testlets… maybe a little bit? But I could hardly notice. After my 3 testlets, I had a lot of time left, so I took a break and went to take a sip of Redbull, at this point I was happy of how easy the MCQs were, but I was also freaking out thinking the SIMS would be horribly hard!…To my surprise, they were not very hard. Did anybody else feel good about their test today? I am worried that I’m so confident and end up failing LOL

I didn't say I THINK they are adaptive. I said “I wonder if they are adaptive”.

I know the AICPA says sims aren't adaptive. They also say the exam isn't curved. Maybe it isn't. The fact that evidence exists that indicates that it is something other than a straightforward percentage of points DEFINITELY exists though. Perhaps it really IS a 75% of 100% situation. I don't know.

I have only posted three posts in this thread on my exam experience. 1- my experience immediately following the exam, 2- a short follow up post to clarify because after reading my post I realized I hadn't said what I thought I had said and 3- the post above in response to someone else's experience wondering if SIMS are adaptive.

Perhaps you aren't aware, and I know it must be difficult to keep everybody and their posts straight with so many on the board, but as a moderator, your singling me out for an undeserved “calm down” and acting as if I'm spending an inordinate amount of time and energy on this topic sends a very unsupportive and judgmental tone for the board. If I've offended you somehow or frustrated you with my posts, I'm truly sorry, but I don't deserve the responses you've given me.

Just to add to what Minimorty is saying – a SIM that is “easy” for one person could be “difficult” for another person. There is no way they would secretly make SIMs adaptive. I also doubt all the conspiracy theories about the exam being curved. I think they have explained that MCQs are adaptive after each testlet, each question within a testlet is worth different points based on quite a few criteria (difficulty, chance of guessing right, etc.). The SIMS are random and varied. As an example, one of my SIMs on AUD was easy for me because of my background. For someone else, it would have been “difficult” because it wasn't directly from an AUD review book.

Also remember, the review courses do the best they can, but the exam is nondisclosed. Therefore, there is no way the courses can know everything and anything that could be tested. You might know every little detail of your review courses and still get questions that you've never seen before. That is still fair, since the exams are based on the CSOs, not a final exam on any review course.

Ok, I'm a little late joining the game but @jenuno it sounds like you had a very similar experience to mine, so I think you're safe feeling confident and I'm certain you smoked that exam and will probably walk away with an 80+ 🙂 Just think, this time next week we could be celebrating!

@David, I've got an 18″ vertical jump… not sure if that's good or not but I'm guessing for a 5′ chick, it's probably not bad. Thanks for cutting the tension here.

@Mini, how do you get moderator status? Just curious.
