I finished FAR 2 weeks ago (still waiting to hear back about my score, praying for a 75…) and I’m starting to attack the audit section and I was just wondering if anyone had any tips for someone just starting out with AUD?

I know once I got towards the end of FAR there were a ton of little things with regards to how to best study, dos and don’ts etc. etc. that I really wish I had known at the start to save myself some time (and sanity).

So does anybody have any tips for someone just starting out? I’d appreciate any help. Thanks

I study AUD for 3 weeks and pass with a 80. I got the score yesterday and I feels good. I think remember all the report sample WORD by WORD is helping a lot. I mean all the report, stand report, qualified report, review, compilation report etc.

I studied for audit about 2.5-3 weeks. I used Becker, but whatever course you take I think there's just a lot of memorization involved. I used the Becker flash card app, rewrote topics from the book that I didn't understand, and explained them to family members to see how well i really knew them. And as always, MCQs are amazing. If you do nothing else, at least do those, they REALLY prepared me I think.

    FAR: 91
    REG: 84
    BEC: 90
    AUD: 94

It will definitely help to do a lot of multiple choice questions. I did Aud in about a month and passed with an 88. I made use of Becker, Wiley, Rogers and Gleim old materials. I did a lot of multiple choice questions and most of them came word for word in the actual exam. MCQs are definitely a most. I must also say that Gleim thoroughly covered Aud. In my opinion they have the best Aud material. They covered everything and have tons of Simulation questions and MCQs that are structured like the actual exams. I bought my gleim materials for less than a dollar on amazon.com.

Again please do as many MCQs as you possible can and trust me you will come out smiling from the exam center.

    Good luck with studies.

Similar to LPMI17, I also studied Becker Materials supplied with Wiley Test Bank for about 2.5 weeks and did about 3 sections. Throughout my study, I noticed that there were lots of Acronyms for certain reports & concepts such as RAPPMEAM, DORCS, PRIME, HELPME, CAR MR ARSOM, etc… In my opinion, Becker did an awesome job of simplifying these concepts. If you're using becker, I recommend memorizing these acronyms and also understand where they come from and when it is necessary to apply these concepts. Also, try speaking out these acronyms and what they mean. It helped me reinforce and organize the concepts and applications of reports. This also helped me save LOTS of studying time rather than just memorizing word for word. But in any case, you should do whatever works for you and not just utilize what works for others. If memorizing word for word is easier for you, then shall be it!

Unlike FAR where myriad of questions are math based, AUD is mostly conceptual based, so it's extremely important to understand the fundamental concepts and the small numerical facts about auditing requirements such as “If an audit company audits less than 100 companies, then PCAOB requires CPA company to be inspected once every 3 years.” The Practice MCQ's and Supplemental MCQ's do a great job on asking on those tidbits. Speaking of MCQs, I highly recommend going over those. It's much easier to go through than FAR MCQ's because AUD MCQ's are mostly conceptual-based, so you will be able to breeze through it faster.

If you passed FAR, then I am sure you can pass AUD. Goodluck!

    Thanks for sharing your experience!

I got 73 with the Becker material on AUD and now I am a little worried if it is even sufficient.

Also I cannot update my Becker for the changes effective July 2013.

Do you think Yaeger/Wiley testbank is enough for my next try or should I go over all the “old” Becker MCQ and Sims again as well??

    Thanks for your advice!!!
