@Trish: Exactly. That's what I know for ratios. With those explanations what cause the ratios to go up and down, I have absolutely no idea.

FAR somewhat did, for journal entries/adjusting entries. Other than that, not really.

I scheduled for April 15th! I want to be done with this so bad!

Just did a SIMS on ratios Lady, guess what. Got it all right lolol. I am in the 90% for sims and mcq. but I know it does not indicate I know ratios at all or I will pass this exam.

trish_1234, The hardest questions I have seen come from both of Becker's finals. The second hardest questions come from Ninja. You should invest on that test bank. I dont know how was your experience, but about 70% my actual exam questions did not look at all like any of the test banks I have come across. They were meant for an experienced Auditor in my opinion (very tricky).

The below question is not tricky, but is on a topic some of us hate.

Field, CPA, is auditing the financial statements of Miller Mailorder, Inc., (MMI) for the year ended January 31, 20X1. Field has compiled a list of possible errors and fraud that may result in the misstatement of MMI's financial statements, and a corresponding list of internal controls that, if properly designed and implemented, could assist MMI in preventing or detecting the errors and fraud. Select the internal control that most likely could assist MMI in preventing or detecting the recording of a credit for the customer's full account balance when the customer's check is for less than the customer's full account balance.

    A.

Remittance advices are separated from the checks in the mailroom and forwarded to the accounting department.

    B.

Total amounts posted to the accounts receivable ledger from remittance advices are compared with the validated bank deposit slips.

    C.

Validated deposit slips are compared with the cashier's daily cash summaries.

    D.

An employee other than the bookkeeper periodically prepares a bank reconciliation.

@Trish, I thought I really passed this time. I did pretty good with the MCQ, but not so well on the SIMS. The exam was a bit tricky. I don't understand why they make it tricky when it's already hard and so much information to understand. Then towards the end, my computer froze!! I freaked out a bit , but that was towards the last 10 minutes of the exam. The SIMS are tough and you never know what to expect. I hate the journal entry SIMS and it just gets so confusing when there are 10-15 choices for one question. Hopefully this will be my last $200+ they get from me for this section. lol.

Different customers accts are credited for same cash?

abundant choice answers from sims, try to spit out the answer and post the thinking behind the answer.

@trish: Would comparison of posting with remittance advice forwarded from mail room to accounting dept. provide the control?

I just imagine myself posting to AR and thinking what paperwork would help in this case – to make sure I am posting the right amount to the right customer. The remittance advice has all the info for this particular customer so it is a good source for verification.

I do not think I am good though – I would be done happy and free if I were :-).
