    @Sonja90

    Thank you. I guess for now I will use the old course. No use in learning material that won't be tested in Q1. Stinks because the new format is a bit refreshing…Oh well.

    @operation_CPA that is already tested it has nothing to do with new CPA exam format its new standards issued by AICPA that we are required to know. I have been tested on that back in August when i took it last time

    SOrry for misunderstanding

    Hey everyone! Over reacting girl right here. So, i am testing on Friday, the 27th. I have a trending score in Ninja of 92 with an average of 75. Also, I am tending in Wiley at 81 (which include sims). I do not feel prepared for this exam. Do i just keep pounding MCQ'S?

    @Sonja90

    Weird, nothing of this is mentioned in my 2016 course. I am going to reach out to Becker and see what they say and will let you all know.

    So I took audit yesterday. January 20th. I'm pretty certain I rocked the MCQs. I got through them all in a little under an hour and a half. I'm worried though about the SIMS. They were just terrible. I only had one research question, which I hope isn't the sim they remove. Anyone else felt similarly? I'm just worried that if I didn't pass I'll have to study for and take Audit with the new exam.

    Audit – We shall see
    BEC – 84
    Reg – 68, rematch 03/10/17
    Far – June 17

    @joshua merrell did you go to AICPA sample test for audit? I've taken audit before and failed, but I just recently discovered sample test of AICPA, and i think that on my previous attempts SIMS were pretty similar to those from AICPA website. It seems like people are complaining a lot in this quarter about difficulty of SIMS. research is not the one that they will toss for sure so don't worry about it. Sending good vibe your way!!!

    That's very good, especially when the questions are not recycled from the test bank.

    @Amor – Thanks Second time sitting for this Section. Pressure is on 🙂

    Well, I already am in review section of Ninja, so I switched back to Wiley. I was about 40% through the questions when I took the test. I can't say that I did not see ANY repeat question from my review, but they were mostly ones I didn't know the answer from reading the first 3 words of the question. So, I would say for a bumper, knock a couple percentage points off.

    I took a practice test at the beginning of the week (Sunday) and received a 71%. I hope this means I am okay for the test on Friday. Not, that I am not going to study my butt off in the mean time. Just easier to study with a little less pressure of complete failure! You know 🙂

    Becker calls their final practice test now as Mock Exam, really cool.

    I am firm believer of taking a final practice test. Some discourage it because it somehow kills confidence. It is especially true when the candidates feel unprepared and the testing date is approaching.

    I ran out of time last December because of a new job and some other distractions. So I was not able to take a final practice test in AUD. I spent most of my time reading and writing notes from September to December 9th. I barely covered sampling and evidence, but I made sure I studied all the modules from my compact final review book (Becker). I probably answered around 600 MCQs only. I was not too happy with the flow of my review, but I took comprehensive notes so I was ready for a retake on the next testing window. Luckily, I pulled an 81. Now I realize I enjoyed AUD more than any sections, LOL. I wish I am preparing for AUD again this time. Unfortunately not!. I am preparing for FAR, yikes!

    I get why some people would not want to take a “mock test” – refreshing name. I usually am very against it because it can kill my confidence. BUT i have not passed an exam because of intimidation and fear of the exam. Now, I take the test because it shows me where I am. I rather know now then while I am sitting in the center.

    I hope I have the same luck as you. I mean I don't even want an 81, I just want a 75.. well, maybe a 76 – I would have a panic attack it I only got a 75. You know they might change it, right??? HAHHA!

    Wow, need to get out more, EH?

    It feels great not having to study after work the last 2 days LOL. Feeling a bit guilty and really hoping to get that 75 this Quarter. Im also afraid of failing again since theres more people testing.. uhh this is a NIGHTMARE!

    I see more people are utilizing the AICPA practice… how is it? is it similar to the actual (3 sets of MCQ and 1 testlet of SIMS)? I tried on my mac but wouldn't let me download or something because it requires something other than safari. I was somewhat lazy to even give it a try.

    @spartans92 a lot of people testing in this window could actually be a good thing. A lot of people who aren't actually prepared are just going to schedule and test to give it a try… because why not, might as well try before the test changes. Their poor performance could help you.

    Happy Thursday to all! 🙂

    When applying analytical procedures during an audit, which of the following is the best approach for developing expectations?

    A. Considering unaudited account balances and ratios to calculate what adjusted balances should be
    B. Identifying reasonable explanations for unexpected differences before talking to client management
    C. Considering the pattern of several unusual changes without trying to explain what caused them
    D. Comparing client data with client-determined expected results to reduce detailed tests of account balances

    The answer is B, but I would've thought the process would be more like:
    -Develop expectations according to account balances
    -Perform procedures and see if your expectations were correct
    -THEN identify reasonable explanations before talking to management

    Shouldn't the talking-to-management-expectations occur AFTER the analytical-procedures-expectations?

    The happiest people don't have the best of everything, they just MAKE the best of everything!

    We can do it!! 🙂
