the first question is asking about agreed upon procedures.
the second question is asking about attest engagements in general.

if we are reporting ABOUT the subject matter, there is no need to restrict use of the report.
if we are reporting ON the subject matter, we must restrict use of the report.

Look up the 11 SSAE attestation standards (similar to the 10 GAAS standards). The last “Reporting” standard states:

Restrict use of the report to specified parties when:
-The criteria are appropriate for or available to only a limited number of parties.
-Reporting on subject matter and a written assertion has not been provided.
-Reporting on an agreed-upon procedures engagement.

So I got my diagnostic report from the Texas state board. I was surprised that I was weaker on MC than SIMS. I was also weak in “understanding the engagement” and “understanding the entity”. I was comparable on everything else. I was “stronger” on nothing.

I just purchased the NINJA MCQ and Notes and plan to use those to supplement Wiley and retake at the beginning of January.

Any advice?

payaza – dont memorize. take the time to read the question and the answers before you choose. wording is critical in audit. dont rush through – this is not the exam – this is preparation. take notes on responses and why it was right. the response will always be based on where you are in an engagement and the type of engagement it is. refer to the lists of standards as you go. i posted all the links at beginning of this thread. refer to them often.

I feel it worth it to read the standards that Wiley has at the end of all chapters

I am all about reading the standards. Not wiley person – i read the actuals but either way doing so is best prep for sims and really tightens the grip on concepts, methods and practices during engagements to aid with mcq's. Everything in audit is based on the standards. Period. So pull up those AICPAs and PCAOBs and start reading them as you go through review.

Thanks @monikernc for the advice.

A question about best practices for becoming familiar with the standards, do you refer to them after you get a MCQ question wrong, or as you are answering the SIMs? Or do you just read (like a book if you will)through the Standards for Auditing, Attest Functions, Compilations, Reviews, PCAOB standards, etc?

English isn't my 1st language, and I at times struggle with reading comprehension.

Sitting the exam on the 15th. This will be my second exam, my first will be REG in the same testing period 2 days earlier. Unfortunately this is forced by circumstance, I'm having to fly from Germany to sit. Hoping for the best as I've been studying since July but I'm worried the travelling will screw me over. Only time will tell, until then I'm studying hard out and trying to study both evenly.

This is my first time studying for AUD (back in 2012 doesn't count). Can someone just give me the lowdown on AUD? For example, for FAR, everyone knows you HAVE to know journal entries, bonds, leases, GOV & NfP. I haven't taken a look at the NINJA MCQ, but that may help in my understanding of how to study for this. Right now I feel like my notes are just re-writing the entire book.

farwars – yes. you should read through a couple to familiarize yourself with the structure of the standards for the sims. the ones you posted will be very helpful to understand what the A's and B'a are and how they are referenced by the numbered sections in a standard. read the thread i posted above for tips.
