ParticipantHi all, hope to be here for Q4. If I passed BEC and REG Q3 then my goal is to take down AUD in November, good luck studying everyone!

ParticipantHelp with SIMS please. On REG we knew for sure that the SIMS would be all tax related questions. Is there any way to narrow the topics that might show up on AUD SIMS? Anyone have any advice?

ParticipantTaking AUD on Oct. 6th. Waiting to hear back on Reg, which I feel is totally up in the air.
Naturally, I'm also concerned about the SIMs. I plan on buying NINJA MCQs soon. Using Becker for now.
Although…I just saw that I can no longer buy just the MCQs from NINJA, so I may have to reconsider. Bummer.

ParticipantI was wondering if anyone can explain to me the difference between GAAS , SA's and A's
Just started studying for Audit and i understand that SA'S are for Private Company (NonIssuers) and A'S are for Public Companies (Issuers). My question is , what is GAAS?? I referred to my old audit textbook and its basically the combination of those two being referred as GAAS (Generally Accepted Auditing Standards). So is that a new auditing standards by the AICPA or PCAOB, or is that just a general term being used to refer to all the auditing standards that follow underneath that, which would be SA'S and A'S.
Just wanted some clarification, since i could not find anything on becker about it.
Thanks.

ParticipantWhat exactly do you mean by SA's and A's?

ParticipantFrom my becker book…
For Financial audits under GAGAS:
Auditors should include in the same or separate reports a description of the scope of the auditors' testing of internal control over financial reporting and compliance with laws etc. Auditors should state whether the tests the auditor performed provide sufficient appropriate evidence to support an opinion on the effectiveness of internal control over compliance.
So should the report be on internal control over financial reporting or internal control over compliance??

ParticipantBecker users, do you think that watching Skills Practice videos is a total waste of time? Sometimes they were helpful when I studied for FAR, but for AUD they seem to repeat the stuff in the book

ParticipantHello people,
I'm studying for Aud to take late October using Becker and Scout Ninja package. @sevenandfive I agree with you using Becker lectures I'm on A4 and I'm noticing that the information is sort of building on each other but semi repetitive. If this is what Aud is them maybe it won't be so bad. I'm just concerned that Becker may be delivering the info too general.
Anyone using becker and ninja can you please shed some light on how you're using the two together?
I've used becker for bec and far and supplemented both with ninja notes and for far I even purchased yaeger too. I found myself overwhelmed with trying to complete multiple study materials. That alone with bad planning and other reasons I have to retake them both.
Any advice would be helpful.

ParticipantI was planning to buy the MCQ's for Audit, but just realized you can't buy them separately. I wonder if they will reconsider this because I get a subsidy from work to buy the more popular CPA review classes, but I always supplemented with the MCQ's from NINJA. I am not purchasing a whole set just for the MCQ's. Oh well. Roger questions this time around it is! I feel like I was so close with a 73, that there isn't much I don't remember. I'll just go through the videos and book once more and then taking the test on October 5th 🙂 Good luck everyone!

Participant@ Teal- What was your study strategy for Audit. I started with Audit using Roger and I am on my second chapter. But I feel there's a lot of information covered so far and feel as if I don't remember anything.. Any tips??

ParticipantHi, Audit Ninjas. I'm Josh. I'm taking AUD Monday October 23rd at 8 a.m. I'm primarily studying with Becker in the live on-line format supplementing with Gleim, Ninja, Roger and other reviews/resources. I'm taking FAR tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. and am studying in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area. I'd consider live if there was one in my area.
In my humble opinion, Becker's skills practice are good practice, but sometimes all these videos are a bit much. The nice thing is the ability to pick and choose if needed in my experience, so that you can focus on areas where you need more understanding. I feel I have room for improvement.
I've noticed in each section, there's usually some page that Becker recommends memorizing out of the whole book such as the Standard Unmodified Audit Report and differences other opinions have. Do what is suggested is my recommendation. It may be work, but it makes a difference. That's been my experience.
Ninja is excellent, and I've seen people do excellent and pass even on the first try with Ninja even people in the area I live, which says something awesome for Ninja. Ninja has some good and memorable mnemonics itself.
Everyone's different. I've also done very well, even passed a section with Gleim. I like a lot of things about Gleim from my personal experience, and it may be close to how I study best? Roger is excellent and, in my opinion, very good at helping students remember through humor, mnemonics, etc.
I know others who put accounting in very understandable language as well, which may be helpful for me since I'm considered “non-traditional” by the NMSCPA (of which I'm a member as well as the AICPA) and the accounting community in Albuquerque being in business for myself and holding a full-time non-accounting position. Physical jobs give opportunities for exercise, which I recommend for a healthy body and mind.
I recommend doing this asap while you're young. I'll be 40 by the time I take AUD this time. I'm happy to have a MBA and other degrees and training and a beautiful family, which help me be a “well-rounded individual;” but I would have done this years ago if I were to re-do things as I did buy my first AUD review book when I took the class in 2000.
I hope all you Ninjas pass as I'm hoping to be north of 75 myself as soon as possible with a goal of taking each exam in 8 weeks or less.

Participant@Reema – I initially struggled with how to study for Audit. I am a visual learner, but to me, reading the book for audit was the MOST boring out of all of the tests. I ended up watching the videos while following along with the book. I also read the book, but I do think that the videos were particularly helpful for me on this test, as well as doing a ton of practice problems. I struggle with this test, but I also do think it is one of the easier tests if you kind of force your mind to get into the mind set of memorizing vocabulary. I also bought the Roger flashcards this time around and I seem to remember everything I studied a few months ago. Hope that helps!
