@avenger That is correct. Departures from GAAP (inadequate disclosure, inappropriate accounting for a change in principle, etc.) are the only thing that would result in a modified review report.

I have the 2012 Becker vids and it still talks about the 10 standards (referred to in the mnemonic TIP PIE ACDO), but I read online that AU-C has 7, that replace the original 10? Does anyone have a list as to what they are so I could memorize? Just can't find a straight answer online, even in the publication.

Auditing for IT–so many terms. Any mnemonic kings/queens out there? Need help coming up with ways to memorize the different types of techniques and tests for each section.

@CPAMommy which study material are you using again? I remember Becker wasn't very thorough for auditing IT but WTB was AWESOME for that topic. They had a ton of questions. If you have WTB, working those questions would definitely be a big help. I don't have any helpful mnemonics, but I remembered that if the term had the word “test” in it (integrated test facility, etc.), it meant using the auditor's fake data (test data = fake data).

@barely-I'm using Kaplan, but I did purchase the WTB for auditing. I'm working all those questions today. I'm having the most trouble between input controls, preventive controls, detective controls, and corrective controls. Kaplan is extremely detailed. I will just work problems until it's hammered into my head. Thanks!

@CPAMommy I wouldn't worry too much about identifying which category a control fits in. Becker didn't cover it, and I don't remember many (if any) questions like that in WTB. Just know the definitions of those categories, and you should be set!

Thanks! I'm also having trouble understanding the difference between the voucher payable and accounts payable departments. I've been in accounting for 9 years and none of the companies I have ever worked for had a vouchers payable department. Everything listed for both departments in the Kaplan book has always been done by the accounts payable department. Can you help me understand the difference in tasks between the two departments so that it clicks?
