@codwater–In the standards of field work, the purpose of the internal control standard is to obtain an understanding of internal control (the design and implementation) in order to assess the level of the control risk portion of the risk of material misstatement. This allows the auditor to determine if the controls are set up properly and whether or not they should assess control risk high or low (making the RMM high or low). THEN, in response to how high or low RMM is assessed, the auditor would test the controls to determine if they are operating as they should (effectiveness). If they are found to be effective, the auditor would do further test of controls as their substantive procedures. If the controls are not found to be effective, the auditor would skip testing the controls any further and come up with other ways to gain enough evidence to support their opinion on that particular assertion. I hope that helps.

Yeah, I think it does. I think I am just going to have to remember on test of controls, do not worry about effectiveness. Then if the questions references risks or material misstatements, I know effectiveness is important.

Another issue I am having is with the research sims. I feel like I am going crazy. I search keywords, find a section that answers their question, then the solution I came up with is different than Becker's answer. They reference another statute that basically says the same thing as the one I found said. I am soooooo frustrated. A girl I work with told me she thinks she failed because of the sims, so now I am starting to stress over the research sims.

Well that was fun!! NOT!! No idea really…I felt like the MCQs went okay…definitely medium-hard-harder so hoping thats a good sign. I marked 4 on the first testlet, 8 on the second, and probably HALF of them on the third!!! (Lost track!!) I know I got the research sim correct and one other sim was super easy. The other 5 were brutal!! One I completely guessed on and there were like 16 squares to fill in πŸ™ Really hoping that was the pretest!! I really hope I managed to pull off a 75….Nov 1st needs to get here now!!!

Just got home from AUD (retake) exam. I think I did enough to pass, but after my last results, I'm not counting any rubber chickens until they hatch. I lucked out with two SIMs that were straight out of AL. The others were definitely manageable and I left myself plenty of time to complete them and research them to death.

MCQ-wise, I feel pretty confident that I got at least 70% correct and moderately confident that I got 75% with an outside shot (based on educated guessing) of 80%. Since I was weaker on all but one section of MCQs last time, I think I definitely improved to on par, or stronger in most categories.

Time to make a cocktail and enjoy the rest of my Friday. BEC study starts tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone else with upcoming exams.

    REG - 89
    FAR - 84
    AUD - 73, 86
    BEC - 89

@ Codwater – I have the exact same feelings on the research SIMS in Becker. I am going to practice them to death. They are a huge part of the reason I broke down and bought the 10 point combo, so I would have extra practice with the WTB.

    AUD 7/30/12 73; 12/2/13 85
    BEC 7/19/13 81
    REG 8/2/14 83
