    The old CPA exams made the candidates actually write out opinions instead of having SIMS like today. They had to be able to state everything verbatim. I don't think memorizing the wording of the reports is essential now except for knowing when you can and cannot say certain things, like “reasonable assurance” and the other correct terminology. Understanding what each paragraph is for and the the order of the paragraphs depending on the opinion is important. ** Just my opinion based on my one experience taking the exam in August.

    I concur with CPAMommy. Maybe also know some of the phrases that Becker highlights, i.e.,

    Review: “we are not aware of any material modifications”

    Supplementary information: “fairly stated, in all material respects, in relation to the FS as a whole”

    etc.

    But no need to memorize whole reports

    Lvr – I like you use of both Becker and 10pt. I am checking out the samples of the 10 Point Combo now. I like the option of listening/studying while on my commute, plus the flashcards on my phone seems really appealing.

    AUD 7/30/12 73; 12/2/13 85
    BEC 7/19/13 81
    REG 8/2/14 83
    FAR - Jan 2015

    CPATaxed – The answer is the same under the old and new standards: Auditor's report EXPLICITLY states that the examination of evidence is done on a test basis (read an example of an unmodified report of a public company) and that consistent application of accounting principles is assumed by the auditor, therefore it is presented IMPLICITLY.

    @Melans — Yes, I travel anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour to work each day one way, so I always listen to my audio at least one way. I like having both! It was one of the best decisions I made!

    ahh! my test is so close! i'm VERY nervous!

    {R: PASSED!! (I passed one!)}
    {B: PASSED!! (Halfway there!)}
    {F: PASSED!! (1 left!!!)}
    {A: PASSED(I am done!!)}

    @katushakmv That's not quite correct. I think CPATaxed's question was regarding the wording between the two reports. The new report no longer explicitly says “examining evidence on a test basis.” It now says “performing procedures to obtain audit evidence about the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements.”

    @JOJO I can help you with that, but the AUD study group probably isn't a great place to discuss REG. Can you start a new thread, please?

    Consistency is always implicit. The “test basis” phrase is no longer in the report. It is NOT explicit under the new standards report. This is according to Becker material, where are you seeing that it is still stated in the new report?

    @Barely

    I'm predicting a 97 for you on AUD. I only hope I can follow in a few days…
