msbeyeneMemberHello All,
I am having difficulties with the audit simulation research questions. I usually do well on these questions. My issue is that i have done several questions now and my answers are not correct according to becker which sites AU- C ( US Auditing Standards – AICPA Clarified) instead of AU which is the source i have been using. Does anyone know if this is something that has changed since July 2013.
Thanks
BEC - PASSED
REG- PASSED
FAR - PASSED

AnonymousInactive@mo_duban Attribute sampling is more of “yes” or “no” type. For example, you as an auditor would look for signatures on the checks. Pretty much were there signatures or no signatures. Or like Jeff's ninja audio would say, did anyone score more than 100% on the exam. lol
Variable sampling is dollar value sampling. Eg/ You want to sample items >$5000 for purchases in the system.
@vital11 – just go through https://www.aicpa.org/Research/Standards/AuditAttest/Pages/clarifiedSAS.aspx and be familiarize with the section numbers if you want to speed up your search in AL. It is possible that a certain keyword could appear in different sections of the professional standards. For me, I can easily get the section right (200, 300, 500…), but the subsection would take some time especially … .21 .26 etc

AnonymousInactive@msbeyene – Yes, effective July 1, the test asks for references from AU-C instead of AU. Some of the review materials are updated, some aren't…but it looks like Becker is, which is good news! Just look in AU-C instead of AU and I'll bet you ace those research questions!
@mo_duban – That stuff gave me all sorts of trouble too, so don't feel bad! It does get better as you practice more… Here's another way to remember it, though – an attribute of someone is like a trait. Are you tall? Are you kind? Etc. Those are attributes. There's no dollars associated with them. But, throughout algebra, if you have a variable, you need to get a number – “Find x” type stuff. So variable sampling is about figuring out number amounts, and attribute sampling is about deciding non-number things…
“How many of the people taking the CPA exam become hermits?” It's checking for the attribute of hermit-ness in the population of CPA exam students.
I still don't have a totally solid grasp on it, but I think I still passed…we'll see in a couple days!

PhebeggMemberAUD is my last paper. I have been continuously studying since I gradated from MACC program in May. I have passed BEC and FAR, and waiting for REG's result.
I feel I am no longer as energetic as I was when preparing for the past three papers.
Any advice how to keep up with intense study schedule? Thank you.
BTW, I took REG last Friday and California CPA board has not updated my status yet. Any ideas about that?

AnonymousInactiveI'm curious, is anyone else squeezing their audit exam in before the window closes? If so, what is your review strategy?
I am re-doing all of the Becker MCQs and sims. If I miss a question, I make myself write down the question and the answer.

LetsdothisMemberI tried to squeeze AUD in last minute and failed….Board took longer than expected to send me NTS and now there's no avail dates to test near me…I'm a**ed out and have to wait until Oct to test
We all have the ability to be whomever we want to be in this life. It's just a matter of DETERMINATION, PERSISTENCE, PATIENCE and the WILL to follow through. Never give up!

AnonymousInactiveAwesome- Keep checking Prometric if you really want to test this window. A lot of spots open up as people reschedule and they some times release additional testing times.
