Hello Not too Late.

    Yep they have that many SIM's as i bought them for the reason as you. I needed to practice more SIM's 🙂

    On Gleim you have three times to do the same SIM question. I really doubt i will sit all the SIM's more than two times.

    If anyone has good feed back on how to practice the SIM part of AUD – gives us a shout!

    Planning to keep doing MCQ's as that is what makes everything stick for me in my head.

    Hi littlenumberrobot and insiyah24,

    Thanks for your reply. It's nice to have comrade on the way with same destiny.

    littlenumberrobot, thank you for the link, I have been reading her post, it's motivated me a lot! I will follow her way too.

    insiyah24, how long have you been using the Gleim's simulations? How do you feel about it compare with the exam? As long as it has different types, I think it will help. Does it expire? (Sorry, too many questions)

    Anybody noticed the new Wiley book has change on Professional responsibilities? not big change, but I am little confused. I only checked this module so far.

    Have a good day!

    Hello Nottoolate,

    I have been using them for 2 weeks now. I feel it is comparable to the exam and also how Wiley has it.

    With Gleim they give you three attempts to practice on the SIM's. For me personally I doubt I will do the all 3 times each. 2 times yes.

    So the first round I am going chapter by chapter. The second time I will make it a random selection. Hope that helps.

    Insiyah.

    Hello my fellow ninjas,

    I see that I am not the only nut who aced the mcqs and failed the sims. I am seriously having problems with the research tabs. I am not sure why, but I cannot manage to get them right? Sometimes I am right on and then change my answer for no reason or I am way off…

    Any suggestions?

    Hello insiyah24,

    Thanks for reply. That's good experience.

    Yes, I will go from chapter to chapter first too, I am making my own notes by reading book and ninja notes. I am planning to do at least 10 simulations after reading each chapter, see if I can improve my understanding on application of theory. Meanwhile I will keep doing lots of MCQs to make sure I don't forget things I knew.

    Let's beat it!

    @CesarCPA2012

    Do you have Wiley TB? I seriously just did those over and over and read the explanations carefully. I thought the research was easy until I started their practice ones. It really helped me understand how to find the exact BEST answer. Hope this helps. Easy points, worth some practice.

    I would say just keep practicing the research questions. After doing so many, I personally started remember where the topics were in the Literature.

    I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I keep getting ~50% on MCQ on becker!! I read a section of a chapter then take MCQ. i read all the questions&answers and try to eliminate the possible incorrect answer (usually come down to two and end up getting it wrong between the two). It's discouraging me and i'm losing motivation. Any advice/help??

    @jess3

    I did the same method the first time I studied. Now I go through the lectures, create flashcards for the whole lecture, study them for a day and do the multiple choice questions the following day. That way it will test your true knowledge of the material rather than your short term rememberance of it. I definitely recomend creating your own flashcards For AUD. I have about 1000 hand written ones and the process really helped to drill in the info.

    hey guys! just checking in… still working on the lectures through this weekend and plan to do hw/simulations/practice tests until my test on 7/12.

    thanks so much insiyah24 for the advice! i plan to use this approach for the sims!

    #437736

    @ Jess, I definitely know how disheartening that can be. To borrow someone else's phrase, that “yellow beam of death” can really stomp on your mojo.

    I would go back and try to review the material a second time. biorenb is so right when mentioning that answering questions immediately following your lectures calls upon your short term memory.

    You mentioned reading the chapters…have you tried taking notes? I find that note taking forces me to focus on the material and absorb it even MORE than reading alone.

    Even if you dislike notes, how about an outline? Or as mentioned previously, flashcards? This will be a great way to review material later on during your final review…. Do you really want to go back to an entire text during your final review? I know I wouldn't….

    Then give the mcq's another go. I am quite sure you will better avoid that “yellow beam of death!” 🙂

    "Do not give up when you still have something to give... Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying."

    Why I am studying for the CPA exam: First it was business...now it's personal!!!!! 🙂

    @biorenb & @DeniseFutureCPA

    thanks for the advices! i bought becker flashcards and i kinda regret that now..i feel like i would retain more info writing on my own!

    @Jess3, your flashcards from Becker & your improvised flashcards will be very useful during the last few days before your actual test.

    I bought Becker's flashcards too. And I've also improvised my own flashcards. During the last 5 days of my review, rereading them alternately while working on hundreds of MCQs & final review tests helped a lot.

    Hopefully I will pass on my second attempt if I allocate at least 10 days to master these flashcards before I sit.

    @Littelnumberrobot, yes I just purchased the test bank and will be working on it soon. I need to finish Becker first. That is probably what I will be doing, just over and over again.

    @Insiyah24, thank you so much… I will keep working on them.

    @Jess3 This is what I will suggest. I took AUD and, believe or not I was strong in every area, when I reach the sims, for some reason, my brain froze… For the mcqs, I did them at least twice. I would go thru every thing once, then once I was done with all the chapters, did all of the mcqs again. I believe I might have done them 3 times. I also downloaded the release questions from the AICPA and did those couple of times. I went to the AICPA website and did the practice test as well. Honestly, repetition makes the master…. Maybe that is what I need to do with my sims as well.

    Hope this helps.

    another quick question for becker users! In A4, do I have to know ALL the ratios listed in appendix? or just the ones Jeff listed on his ninja notes?

    thanks everyone for the help and great advice!!!!
