KenadaMemberHiya Ninjas,
So I am wondering if anyone can help lock this down for me.
– In the Rogers CPA lecture updates the Clarity project is just for Non issuers audit.
1. It won't be the 10 GAAS standards per say but the new Standards of Intro,Definitions,Requirements etc etc.. Within that comes the 10 GAAS standards(Scope & Purpose)
2. Modified/Unmodified reports
PCOAB will stay the same – It is the 10 GAAS standards and the reports will stay as Unqualified or Qualified or Adverse/Disclaimer. It will change but as well but for now they are still on the old method for exam purposes.
Let me know if you all have the same understanding from your review courses.

Has anyone been able to download the flash cards to their iphone? Please help!! having issues with converting the XML files to CSV files…
Thank you!!!

DeniseFutureCPAMemberCesar – when you first download the file, you have to “extract” because it is a zip file. Next there will be three choices, choose the folder for iPhone/iPad. This folder contains the cvs files. You should not need to convert anything…. I hope this helps!

10keyLeahMemberThe section on Evidence is killing me. ugh! It seems like for some of the online MCQ I'm having to go back and find the answer in the actual standards in the back of the Wiley textbook. It's just a tough section for me. I think I'm going to have to spend some extra time on it.

AnonymousInactiveDenise,
Thank you for the response. No, I received an email with the files already on XML. I did not have to extract them from a zip file. I really need help with this as I would like to have it on my phone.

DeniseFutureCPAMember@ Cesar, have you tried shooting Jeff an email for the csv files?
@zubairs, I really think it is personal preference. I am in the “retake boat” just like you for Audit. I am using one week to watch lectures because I want to pick up on any Clarity Standards tidbits I can. I know some people prefer just straight text to read and take notes; however, if you have an updated version Becker for the Clarity Standards, Tim goes into side examples/anecdotes that I feel help to illustrate some of the topics.
It really is persoal preference. I want to follow the NINJA method to the letter this time around, so I am going the lecture route. Best of luck!!!
@ 10 key… I feel you on Evidence as well. On the WTB, that was one of my weaker areas. I just kept doing sets of 20-30 over and over again. It seems that Evidence related practice questions are largely “applied knowledge” rather than purely/straight out conceptual. So these types of questions, I reallllllly take my time and think about what logically makes sense. I hope that helps! Best of luck to you as well!!!

KenadaMemberCan anyone confirm if what i posted above (few posts above) is what they understand on the Clarity project.
It is really a change on Non Issuers and not Issuers/ Public companies (PCAOB)
I am not fond of Audit Evidence either one of the areas I have to revisit.
I am doing the same as Denise – since I am also a rematch with AUD. I am almost done with the updated lectures, I am making my own short notes as I go through the lectures and text notes. More like my flash cards. I do then a lot of practice questions and just keep doing them over and over again until i am blue.
One thing I will do different is i will hand write out the Audit reports and Internal control reports I have this feeling that this “new” clarity report is going to show up on the exam some how.
Therefore I really want to make sure the new report of 4 Pghs (clean report) is just for Non issuers IE Intro, Mgnt responsibilty, Auditors Responsibity and Opinion.
Issuers are still under the old system of 3 Pghs. Intro Scope Opinion.
Thanks

mhalabiMemberI have taken audit 3 times – scores 58, 71, 61 and I am going to retake it in July 2013 but I am very unmotivated to study for the clarity updates on audit. I am about to give up. I am using Becker 2012 and I recently bought the Audit Wiley test bank from Jeff and the Wiley Audit Book. Any advice on how to study for the new audit updates without having to buy Becker 2013?

DeniseFutureCPAMember@ insiyah24, I believe you are correct! I am making my way through the new material as well. Best of luck to you!!!
@ VanessCA – don't give up!!! Trust me, many of us have undergone retakes. I think it's more of a rarity to pass on the first go round than it is to retake. You are a smart person!!! You would not be taking this on if part of you did not believe that it was possible!
The more I read the clarity standards, and the more I listen to Jeff's audio and read Jeff's updated NINJA notes, I am feel more and more comfortable with it. Know that what you have learned about the previous standards will NOT go to waste as it is all still testable (is that a word? lol)
Believe in yourself! And when you don't, you have us here at another71!!!

KenadaMemberHiya Vanessa
I am Using Roger CPA review – I honestly enjoy his lectures and he does make things make a lot of sense in his weird way.
I first used Becker the first two times, I failed cause I wasn't very motivated. I switched to Rogers CPA and i actually did very well on the MCQ's. It was my fault that i screwed up in the SIM's. God only knows why my brain went for a walk to lala land. Things i knew so well like Independence blah blah. I just messed it up. So i didn't pass.
So here i go on a rematch. Per the lectures in Rogers I see the real change is just Non Issuers and Rogers does say its more heavily tested for Audit reports than PCAOB audit reports. PCAOB seems to stay the same.
Each Engagement has
1. Introduction – Purpose and Scope
2. Objective – Planning and performing
3. Definitions – Terms that are particular to the Std
4. Requirements – Unconditional (Mandatory) or Presumptive mandatory (can have exceptions)
With in these standards the 10 GAAS std still apply for Non Issuers.
For Issuer it is still 10 GAAS Stds.
That is my understanding.

mhalabiMemberThanks for the motivation and support DeniseFutureCPA.
And thank you insiyah24 for the suggestions on the study materials. I am considering to invest in the Audit Ninja notes and Audio. Where can I find these?
Also insiyah24 and DeniseFutureCPA are you supplementing your study for the new audit updates by just investing in the Audit Ninja notes and audio or did you guys also invest in the updated 2013 (for test takers after July 1, 2013) Rogers (or Becker)? I really do not want to invest in Becker 2013 version unless I have to. Would I be okay with just the Wiley test bank and Ninja notes for the new audit updates?

DeniseFutureCPAMemberI happen to have Becker 2012 and because my license is still good until Sept 2013, I was able to get a free update. I am also supplementing with the NINJA 10 point combo for Audit.
As an alternative, and one that I am seriously considering after Sept 2013, is the Wiley book. I hear a lot of great things about it, and that it is very comprehensive. It is a great cost effective alternative, but on the flipside, you have to have the discipline to sit down and read a somewhat, dry text and write your own notes from it.
Have you heard of the NINJA Blitz videos? You can sign up for one free month as well as a trial. If you like the vids, it is $47?/month for all 4 sections.
As far as the NINJA notes and audio, try clicking on the “Store” link on the main page of this website. You can see all of the various packages offered.
I hope this helps!!!
