FYI If the accountant doesn't disclose his or her lack of independence, he or she is not allowed to have contingent fees.

Ok so bottom line. non independence for compilation MUST be disclosed and reason for non independence MAY OR MAY NOT be disclosed.

    Right?

hi I was wondering if anyone can help me- is SAS only for non issuers or issuers as well?

because I at first thought that it is for non issuers only but then in my wiley book in mod 6 it says that for interim reviews for issuers it is under SAS – if anyone has an explanation I would appreciate it…

@cats SAS is for nonissuers and issuers. PCAOB has issued several of its own AS to replace ASB, but other parts of SAS that's not been replaced by AS still applicable for issuers.

@cats I'm using Becker. It doesn't mention compilation engagement for issuers. Also, assuming we are not taking AT under consideration.

Compilation engagement is in accordance with SSARS (nonissuer); review engagement is in accordance with SSARS (nonissuer and it's not interim FS); review engagement is in accordance with SAS, thus GAAS (nonissuer interim FS)/ in accordance with auditing standards in PCAOB (issuer interim FS).
