    Hey guys,

I'm starting to study for AUD this weekend. Quick question, Wily MC has 8 modules (not including research part) and so do AUD Ninja Notes. Which Ninja notes topic corresponds to Wiley's “Accounting and Review Services” module? Any idea? All other 7 topics I've been able to easily match up w/Ninja notes. Thanks!

    FAR - 78 (07/09/12)
    REG - 84 (11/27/12)
    BEC - 86 (02/26/13)
    AUD - 87 (05/29/13)

@beechcrest thanks for the response, I appreciate the feedback and will definitely think about your advice. I tend to take a lot of notes, but haven't tried flash cards yet. That may be something I need to add to the mix as well . ..? I also, will write one “nugget” per question during practice, I then condense my nuggets into fact sheets for each topic.

I'm glad to see all of this positive energy on the forum. I don't know anyone offline that is going through the exam process, it's easy to get lost in the trees when you're going through this on your own.

    Happy studying!

@Opaman The Ninja Notes address compilations, reviews, agreed upon procedures etc. in the reporting chapter starting on page 61. I'm using the Wiley textbook also this time around on audit combined with Ninja notes as well!

Best of luck to everyone with their prep today!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

Starting my AUD journey again…hopefully its the last time i ever have to crack open a CPa book. I'm thinking mid-may (going to try to get in on the Wave 2 grade release), but haven't booked the day yet.

Anyone think the last window before AUD changes will make pass rates lower this quarter? – i'm a little concerned about that as BEC will expire if i dont pass AUD in this window

    AUD 85 (11.10 - expired), 0 (2.13), 82* (5.13)
    BEC 49 (5.09), 38 (5.11), 75* (10.11)
    REG 65 (2.11), 74 (11.11), 0 (2.12), 81* (4.12)
    FAR 67 (5.12), 73 (12.12), 78* (2.13)

Started studying for AUD last week. I used a Wiley online review course for BEC and FAR, but decided to self-study for AUD using Wiley text, Wiley test bank, and Ninja notes. I'm having a hard time staying on top of my schedule so far, but I'm willing to attribute most of that to waiting for my FAR score at the end of this past week. I've got 5 more weeks to learn this stuff… Good luck studying, everyone!

hi all! can anyone briefly explain how control risk and detection risk are related? (inversely?) the higher the control risk the better the controls are, the less work the auditor has to do so you set your detection risk low…

the lower the control risk, the more work the auditor has to do so you set your detection risk high because you are willing to accept fewer mistakes? ahhh… i think that is it but each time I reread it I confuse myself. thank you and good luck studying!

    @mags :

A weak internal control indicates that the control risk is high. Therefore, the auditor cannot rely on the controls and hence he will perform extensive substantive tests. The greater the substantive tests, lower is the detection risk!

    I hope that helped you!

    Good luck!

@ dee, so then there is a direct relationship with detection risk and control risk? a low control risk = lower the detection risk (because you do more substantive tests)? ahhH! thank you, and sorry that i am so dense on this one

Weak internal controls = HIGH control risk = more substantive procedures = LOW detection risk

(detection risk means the risk that material misstatements might not be detected. If the auditor performs more substantive procedures, the chances of finding/detecting a misstatement are more likely , causing the detection risk to be low)

Anyone else having problems with flowcharts? I think I am gonna photocopy important flowcharts, and then re-illustrate them when I rewrite my notes. Any better suggestions?

    REG - 64, 72, 81!
    FAR - 77
    AUD - 79
    BEC - 72, 79! And Done!

As you can tell from my signature, I have taken AUD twice… and I went down the second time I took it. I was flabbergasted that I didn't pass. Per your comments above, I am going to write out the notes in my own words much, much more this time around. Other than that, I already did the rest to a T… I really understood the material, and I'm not sure I could cram anymore information into my head.

I really do not want to pay for additional study material (currently using Becker), but I may have to if I don't pass the third time around.

    AUD 69..65..74..91!!!!
    REG 77!
    BEC 82!!
    FAR 77!!!
